Hi, i have a 83 atc 200e modified motor - high lift cam, hd springs, ported head, dg carb, dg exhaust, 12/1 piston.
Thanks to 3ww input im running race gas and it runs great! (does not ping at all)
i was looking into running alchool instead of race gas due to race gas costing sooo much
is there a power gain associated with switching to alchool?
thanks

No real power gain and you'll have to re-jet to run the alcohol. The engine will run a little cooler and it will be cheaper BUT getting an carbed engine started on alcohol, especially when the temps are below 40F, can be a bit of a pain. Speaking from years at the track. ;)

Alcohol (that how some folks spell it) may be cheaper in terms of cost per gallon, but if you want your rings and other moving internals to last more than a day you need to change your oil between trail heads. Seriously, there are guys who run cars on the street with it:crazy:, but in a drag bike engine failure to change your oil every pass will take out your rings that same day. Don’t even think about running it in a recreational vehicle.

That and it attracts moisture, gums your system up if you let the bike sit with it............. just stick with the race fuel.
