Im itching to get into the 70 game. Everywhere i look it seems like theres limited mixed info. Is there a site that has more info about parts and pictures of 70's with mods etc? .org doesnt seem to have much to offer other than a subforum with various posts in it. I was hoping for a cataloged thread with parts that interchange and how to DIY on certain mods etc. I found a bunch of random pics on the honda atc 70 riders FB page but i want more pics of projects and mod lists etc :Bounce

I am picking up HoosierLoggers 140 swapped bike http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/137323-Hoosierlogger-s-ATC-70-resurection/page5?highlight=Hoosierloggers+atc+70 and I wanted to go through it and make alot of changes. New fenders, tank, bars, complete exhaust. I found all that stuff on hondaatc70.com already.

I cant find a solid answer about the hubs; i want to change out to regular hubs so i can run some normal 8' wheels and get away from the stock pizza cutters the 70's normally have. Do the 83/84 250r hubs fit? saw that somewhere but cant confirm  I had 400ex hubs on my 84 250r if i recall correct, but i thought the 400ex hubs fit all the 250r bikes.....

I wanted to find a classifieds that was mainly 70 stuff so i could buy and sell too. I will be selling the plastic tank off the bike and replacing it with a clean stock red metal tank that i have yet to find.

Are there forums around where its just 70 nuts spouting knowledge about these bike? I feel like with the huge following they have i am missing the party lol Thanks for any help on this, still googling stuff but want to find some solid info

400ex, 450r, 86-87 200x hubs all fit on the ATC70 and extend it a couple inches.

glamisdunes.com has an ATC70 board.

Here is the comparison of the 83-85 200x hubs versus the 400ex, 450r, 86-87 200x hubs.

Kasey removed some material from the hub and I had them chromed.

These are two that are good for info and parts. When you are ready to sell the plastic tank get a hold of me I have a half dozen of these, and the plastic tanks are nice for the kids to ride with. i am a little to big for the 70's, a 90 fits me like 70's fit most other guys. But my son sure rides the tar out of his 84 atc 70. if it has not been done already on the one your getting look into the foot brake kits, the hand brake gets old quick.

Sounds like you'll be on the right track. I am guessing you are building a 78-85 ATC 70 correct?

Here ya go....http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/63463-All-Honda-ATC-s-hubs-that-swap-extend-axles

I do know that the liquid R and both years of the 350x fit only those 25 spline axles. As it says somewhere on this link....mostly all the others are 24 spline with some different bolt patterns.....

I buy my parts at dratv. I know these things like the back of my hand. I have over 20 Honda 70s, not all are in my signature.

Matt i believe its an 83 or so i will have to confirm but it is the 78-85 generation. Not a fan of the first generation styling. I need to find a set of factory front and rear as well as an unrusted out tank. The plastic one is up for grabs as soon as i get my hands on a decent metal tank.

thanks for the info so far guys! Im excited to jump on the 70 bandwagon. After i rode my buddies 140 powered 70 i really want one! Thing is violent, i likes it and set out to find one like it. Hoosiers is nice because its already stretched out 3 inches and wider by almost 5 inches. and with 110 foot pegs it should be comfy for my 6' frame. just need to make it purdy now, its got all the mechanical goodies i want

looking to have a pull lever made up to use in place of the kicker. I dont want to have to pull the fenders to kick it, or run cut fenders for that matter. I think a pull lever is a great alternative and way cheaper than running a modified pull start to fit one of these chinese motors.

pretty bad if you ask me. i like the idea and i dont think it would really be in the way

I like the "pull starter arm" in the video but don't know if I would like something extra sticking out to catch on to foreign objects even if it is higher than the pegs. Maybe if there could be something fabbed up that is not as protruding like a telescoping or folding "starter arm" but still robust enough to get the job done when needed. Or maybe some sort of quick detachable arm that slid into the frame somewhere after it was fired up kinda like a stylus on a palm pilot. Anyway I was just looking for something to comment on so as to be subscribed to the thread and the imagination took off. :D Subscribed!

EZ Rider....

Honda EX hubs with re drilled rear wheels. No sissy pizza cutter out front either.

lol mrsound i like the way you're thinking! Ya i dont want something hanging down in the way but if you look at the bike its going on the pegs are 110 pegs and are wider/outside the area the 70 pegs sit. I was thinking maybe bend the pull bar inwards around the motor or something to tuck it but still have clearance to pull start it without hitting the tank. I will do some reserach, maybe fab up a holder for it or make some cool pocket on the fenders for it. Got me thinking man!

Alright! Just got off the phone with a guy at Spanglers (hondaatc70.com) and got some solid info. They did have the fiberglass tanks, as well as the fiberglass oversized tanks that i REALLY like the look of. They have been out of stock for a year and no clue when they will get more. I asked about their tanks, they sell metal tanks but they are pricey! basically they will sell you a tank for about 600$. That is a tank that has been blasted, pin holes and weak spots welded up, reblasted and a special rust removal for the inside of the tank done. After that they will paint it up any color you like and so on. But ya 600 smackers for that treatment.

So i'm torn. i found fiberglass tanks from Sterdy for 160 that appear to come in a few select colors so thats an attractive option. I might just settle for all white on this bike, that might look ok

I ended up finding a brand new clarke ATC70 tank on ebay and got it for $60 shipped. And this is the clarke, not wide open brand. Unless you don't like those for whatever reason.

ya i saw those on dratv.com already. I think they list the clarke tanks around 230$! Too rich for my blood. I really dont like the plastic tanks, Something about the color or shape of them just turns me off. Going to go with the fiberglass tank, need to determine what color scheme i want to go with. Originally it was going to be red fenders and tank, now im thinking i might go white! Black sounds cool but i dont know.
