I have 3-86 and 1-87 tecates. I'll be building 2 at the same time for now.
First is a 86 as a few aftermarket goodies I'll post pics when they load.

Second is a 87 with KX 500 (540 Big Bore). Using for DRAG..

Trying post some pics, but wont load... I'll keep trying

Yeah, I can tell there is a lot of love in that T-4. Don't be shy, there are a lot of quad riders here too. You can always start a thread on the T-4 in the quad section, hint hint:beer

Do the TRX hubs fit ?

I read somewhere the 300ex fit, but when I tried they didn't..

ezmoney1979
05-06-2014, 06:36 PM
Yes, trx450r, 400ex, 250x/300ex, 200x and many more fit the 86-88 Tecate splines. I'm not sure why 300ex didn't work for you. Aftermarket axle maybe? Some aftermarket 86-87 Tecate axles used the earlier 84-5 spline count in order to use the 4/4 hubs for running 8" wheels. But now that I looked at your picture closer you seem to have a stock axle.

tecaterob
05-06-2014, 08:03 PM
The 300ex hubs fit my T4, but not my stock T3 axle. I ordered some TRX hubs for my 70, I'll see if those fit.

I want to run 8in rears. We have a lot of rocks in Miami Fl.

Been looking all over the site and haven't seen inverted folks on the tecate. I only see them on the 250r's. Does someone know anyone on the site that can help me with this??
I'll be interested in making some triple clamps also for them and not modify the OEM. I can use the chromed one on the kx500 build.

Thanks in advance

Jason Hall is the guy you want to ask about triples for inverted forks.

That one is for a tri z, but he can make them for the T3 too.

What parts do u need? There's a bike being sold here with enough parts to build another bike. He was at friends shop and ask if I would be interested in it, but he wants 1500 and its not in the best shape.

tecaterob
05-09-2014, 10:15 AM
Second bike (drag KX540) will be a while. Nick is making the pipe and then have to wait to get the bike back to FL. Those of you interested in a pipe should it get with him on the new products, he's making some while my bike is there and no more.
i have the big bore kit already, but I would need to do all the work to the motor and lighten everything else.
So I'll finish the first one faster... I need to start riding again its been a long time...

Worked a little today at my friends shop which is where the bike is now. I forgot to take pics before I put it up on the rack, so I took some pics in the rack (sorry for the bad pics). It's a roller now.

Any help would be appreciated..

I'd do some measuring and see how the over sized 500 fits up to the stock T3 rads.

If they are considerably larger and will fit without any major issues (like triples hitting) then I'd go with the big rads

Been very busy at work and with the kids. No time for the T3. Worked a little today and trying to figure out the mounts, spacers etc. I notice when I was installing the bottom bolt it was a little lose on the motor. No wonder the bikes vibration some really bad, Betwwen the bottom bolt and the rigs on the mounts. I should get a lot better with a good install and a balanced motor. I'll be ordering a new bolt from kawasaki tmw and go from there.

Is that a +2 swingarm? I had a +2 on my stock 500 with one of nick's pipes on when I got it. It worked decent but if your motor makes the kinda of power you think it is I think it's gonna be a little short. Also, I had problems with the torque of the 500 pulling the right side of the axle back and throwing off the chain adjustment. I had HRE build me a +3 chromoly swingarm with a honda style carrier to help with this. If you have the same problem you might look into having a new one built
