Ok so yesterday I picked up a project 85 200x for $400 and the forks are completely disassembled and I want to rebuild them while they are apart so I need to know
1:what parts I need to order and if possible can you post up a link of the parts I need and could you give me a detailed write up how to reassemble them and maybe some pics:pics:

2:what #fork oil do I need and do I have to add air to the shocks??

and if you have any tips they are most welcome!!!
thanks for any help

Download a manual. Best thing you can do and it will have all the answers!

hello;

heres a few more answers. buy the parts below. 9 and 10 are not necessities but would likely reduce fork wiggle/play. these are all avail in the link below. enter the part number in google with ebay or partzilla and possibly get them cheaper. there are aftermarket seal kits [item 20] on ebay and atv stores like possibly rocky mountain.

9, 10, 15, 20

Seals, bushings, wipers, cap o-rings, snap rings and Schrader valves if you're picky.

Fork seal driver. Purchased or fabricated.

Oil will be rider preference. So will air. 2-10 psi. I like heavy oil and no extra air in mine. Valves are used as air bleeders as well....

Check the tubes for straightness. Got a stone countertop? Pool table? Roll it across just like you would to see if your cue is worthy. Starting with bent tubes is counterproductive. They can be easily straighted if they are bent.
