Hey everyone,
So a friend of mine mentioned they were thinking of possibly having there fenders dipped (AKA) Hydrographics and asked what I thought about it? I told them my only concern is the durability of the finish and if they do a lot of riding in bushes or in mud holes with limbs below the surface it may scratch the fenders. BUT, I have also read that the reliability of the products now on plastics are GREAT!!! Is there anyone out there that has any experiences with hydrographics on there plastic atv fenders and if you could give a reliability report!!!
Thanks,

... and mine is cracking around the mounts. It is cool as all heck, but it is not very flexable. Good for show, not for go.

El Camexican,
I assume you said it is cracking around the mounts, you are talking about the fender mounts? Do you have any pics?

My dads grizzly 400 is done in Camo and it is peeling off. Once it gets scratched through to the plastic water can get in behind it. Parts of my dads fenders is coming off in fairly large pieces.

I don't have any pics since it started cracking, but its happening on the two mount holes on the rad shrouds. It cracked and some fell off.

Thanks man...... that's exactly what I was worried about and exactly the parts I was going to have done..... I know I can get a set of fender from Meier that are Carbon fiber finished....very durable, but the tank shrouds and headlight guard I would have had to get dipped. How long did it last before it started cracking and peeling?

Thank briano,
The more replies I am getting, I am seeing that this is probably NOT the way I want to go!!!

My '08 Rancher came with the factory hydro dipped Natural Gear Camo fenders, and they held up pretty good for a couple years. Eventually the pressure washer got the best of the dip tho, so now it's kinda half camo.

My scenario is not exactly what your considering, mine was done on steel and fibreglass. So far so good but I haven't really rubbed against anything to test it out. My US90 needs a bath in bad way but everything looks as it should. I'm surprised that the durability is in question as it's pretty common to have gun stocks done. Pressure washers are evil ;-)

I think the whole process was origionally intended for guns, and its pretty common to have the entire thing dipped. Guns are a little different though. I think that most gun stocks are a different kind of plastic than fenders, to me it seems "stickier". Gun stocks also don't flex, and I don't pressure wash my firearms either haha.
