I'm putting my 1986 ATC 250ES Big Red back together, I have two issues. When I put the engine in and started bolting it in, the top Head mount was not lining up, all of the others lined up PERFECTLY. But not the top one, I ended up tightening it down and it bent the engine mount brackets. Also, when I put the swing-arm and drive shaft on, I started turning the hubs to see if I could hear any clunking, sure enough, these is a lot of clunking, either coming from the engine or the drive shaft u-joint. But when I put it in first gear and kick it over, it does not do any clunking at all.

Can someone please shed some light on these issues?

Thanks!!

Noise is likely nothing..mine make a slight clunk noise from the u-joint if the wheels are lifted off the ground as I spin them.

The engine mount thing I've never seen before..suggest you loosen off all the bolts and shake the engine to be sure it's settled into place. The top mount only goes in one way because of it's shape..

Post up some pics..maybe a video of the noise.

Lets have a look..
