well picked me up a 200e cheap. it will run good then just stop running and i have to turn the engine over by hand, like its got a mechanical obstruction after 10 seconds or around there. i have the pullstarter off so i turn it over either by tapping the starter button then it runs for a while and stops again.

im thinking it could be something in the timing chain, but not sure. took the engine out of the 3 wheeler now, and thought i would ask to see if this is something someone knows about in the 200e engines before i go and start taking it apart.

also have a 200s i have a good engine in, i was wondering if itll fit in the 200e? then i can have a rider while im working on the E engine, as i want to put that back in after i fix it, it has that cool high low range and electric start!

well the 200s engine fits, i got it in and most the bolts in so far! seems the exhaust is different as the big red has battery tray in the way. also the plug that comes out by the front sprocket is 3 wire plug (only 2 wires in it) and the 200s one has only 2 wire plug. so i will have to modify that as i think its the electrical charging or lighting circuit.

Great work!

I have a roommate that's moving to Alaska soon, I think the place is called dead man's lake......we have been curious about how well his 200s' will perform in the extreme contitions, if there's any particular modifications that can help make them more useful and capable on a regular basis, or if he should sell these and just go straight to a 250es.

Any insight is appreciated. Glad you got yours all fixed up, and with no one else's help apparently!

still would like to know if anyone else had a 200e engine with these symptoms, before i tear it apart... seems no one has...

The only suggestion that I have is: it may be related to the ignition coil. They usually fail when they warm up. Otherwise, not sure what would cause the situation that you are having.

well took it apart, its the big end of the rod bearing.. just as we all thougt. now i need to find a crank with a good rod on it, since i dont have the tools to split a crank.

anyone got one laying around for a 200e? ;)

i am thinking something internal will cause it to hard lock like that. maybe a chipped or broken gear inside?
you will need to split the cases and go through it step by step.

its the rod as i can make it bind on the bench, as theres a piece moving around between the rod and the crank journal itself. but that case will be split forsure anyhow to r&r a crank.
