Hello all,

Do you know where I could purchase new inserts for where the screws screw into? I'm not looking for the screws or collars. I've ordered new ones through Partszilla, but I need the actual insert that slides into the fender.

Also, what grit sandpaper should I start out with when removing some scuff marks and light gouges?

Thank you for your help.

Best bet on inserts is to find a junk fender and take them out. If memory serves right it has to be an 86 fender. The original 85's had a round insert. 86 is square. GL

Sanding plastic,,,, starting with 100 grit and finish with 2500 grit wet sanding paper (do not miss a grit size) will give you best results.

Got ya! Then the 85's were square. I could use 1 or two if somebody was to make them... I bought a junk 85 fender years ago and the inserts were different, square rather than round.

Hey jeswinehart,

The insert is metal. I'm missing four of the inserts. I'm wondering if I could just go to hardware store, maybe I could match it up somehow.

Thank you for the sanding tip. The plastics aren't that bad, but there are a few gouge marks that I'd like to get out, then polish it up :)

I'm going to see if I could find these inserts at a hardware store. I'm sure they have other uses, specific to other things. I'll let you know what I find :)

Shoot. I have about a coffee cup of mold making resin left over unmixed to either use up or toss out in a couple of weeks.
I would rather build a small mold of something usable rather then just let it go too waste,,,
Fastenall or MSC supply should have something close,,, perhaps even McMasters
