Have a damaged case saver to a 200X, been sitting on my shelf for a long time and I just didn't have the heart to toss it.

Very hesitant to try and repair because of the porous aluminum. Finally decided that I really couldn't break it MORE, had a friend weld it. It came out being functional, better than it was. Just looks like crap.

Anyway, looking for input on further working on it; grinding down the weld, polishing and painting. Dunno if it'll weaken it and just break again while grinding, or I should try to finish it nicer.
Feel free to critique.

Looks like a solid repair, although not the prettiest as you mentioned.

Personally i would paint it and run it that way, its like a scar, and it shows you cared to fix it.

Welding aluminum is the worst. I'm very surprised that it turned out that well. It's functional and it may not look pretty, but its a conversation piece

Agreed! Good effort. Shows you don't give up and just toss it out.

I have one with a small chip out of it that I don't need.
