i just picked up a 1984 250 kawasaki tecate. I added oil to the crankcase because when i looked a the sight glass i didnt see any oil. I put about a half of quart and still didnt see any. I started it and ran it but it began to leak oil out of the hose up by the kick start. It only leaks oil when it is running. I think that the sight glass may be lying and its over filled. Let me know what you think.

the hose in the middle on top of the engine behind the carb? That is the transmission breather hose. If it is blowing out of there and you can not see oil in the site glass, then the pressure from the cylinder when running is leaking into the trans and blowin the oil out of the transmission (breather hose)
The entire engine must be disassembled and sealed when put back together.

Luckily it was just way over filled with murky looking oil once i emptied it and out correct amount in it it no longer leaked.
