I just printed the scanned diagram - hard to see but I will try and use it.
Thanks for sending it to me. I would like the troubleshooting
section scanned for the ignition system - if you don't mind.

I would love to have this thing running - we are having snow this weekend
and I hear that a three wheeler is a BLAST to ride in the snow.

Thanks again !!!!!!!!

My little 185s had no spark when I first got it. So my older brother pulled the cdi cover off and cleaned the contacts on the points. After that we cleaned the plug for good measure and then the bike started. These are some spunky little toys..

Jeff Wilson e-mailed the wiring diagram but the color code and
wiring legend can not be read. I have cleaned the CDI contacts on the pulse generator and looked for broken wiring and such.

I have a manual ordered but I want to work on it now !!!! I would appreciate a wiring diagram and possibly the troubleshooting section for the ignition system. Fax number 865-971-6479
My e-mail address is dstaley@searay.com 1-800-648-8535

I'm glad to hear that these ATC's are spunky ! I've always wanted one but children and working prevented me from having one. NOW IS THE TIME FOR DAD !!! I plan to get this one running and then make it look like new - the wife will either want it or I will trade up to a faster more suspensioned model - hopefully a 200R.

Thanks for all the help in advance - we can all help each other and make this a better place. Doc Staley

Hey Doc, not sure if I sent you an email and told you, but I was going to re-scan the diagram for you and fax it, but I don't have the manual at home, it's at my brothers place with the bike, and I won't be up there until this weekend. Let me know if you get one by then, if not I'll fax it off to you

Thanks Jeff - I do not yet have a schematic or any response by anybody but you. I hope that someone can get me the information.

I have a manual ordered from e-bay but I do not expect it before sometime next week. Thanks for the attempt ! I did get your e-mail about trying to scan the page at home. I could stop by the local Honda shop and get a Clymer manual but they want $28.95 for the same manual that I purchased for $10.00 on e-bay. I can wait on the manual but I would love to have the bike running and just looking at it sitting there makes it WORSE !! I am a certified marine mechanic and I understand electrical issues pretty well but the CDI system is a little unusual. I would like to ohm check the coil, pulse generator and stator and buy the correct part rather than doing the parts swap thing.

The bike had a bad spark plug when I first checked it - I've tried another spark plug cap and new plug. Initially it would fire a spark plug from my Yamaha XS 650 - this is how I determined that the plug was bad.
Once I got the new plug - I have not had fire since. The new plug will fire on my street bike though - just grounding it to the head.

Hopefully somebody will e-mail or fax me something soon. Thanks again for your efforts ! Doc Staley

Just out of curiosity, where is the cdi cover on these machines. How do they look like, just wanna know if it's the same as my Dad's TRX 125

Mine's a 81 though I was told it was an '85. It is located on the top left side of the engine held by two philips head screws.

All this info is already here and available with a simple search of this site. You can even search Google and it will bring you to the 185 diagram back on this site.

I still always advise to disconnect the kill swicth for an attempt to check for spark, not a really sound design for them but easy to rebuild if need be

I usually take apart all the swtiches on my trikes as soon as I get them and clean the contacts out, and put them back together. They just work so much better after that.

I have the same problem on my 185s and looking around I have heard that the stator are know for going out on the 185, 185s ,200s . Thats the only thing that I could think of left because I changed other electricals on my 185s and still no spark. I have heard that to test the stator you use a multimeter using ohms and it should measure to 150-400. The only problem I have is that there are two stator coil a lighting and a fire/ignition coil. and i dont know were to find the assembly less than 60$. But i would recomend to change the stator coil if I get mine running I will tell you.
