I need to take my front axle off to put new bearings on but the axle won't come off. I took the caliper off and took the cap off the left side that holds the axle on. Is it supposed to slide out or am I missing something?

Ok I got the axle and wheel off. How do I get the axle out of the hub?

Lube it up and tap it out. Nothing holding it but corrosion .

I tried. I guess I'll let it sit a little longer.

Yes wait a bit.

If it hasn't been out in years because whoever re-installed it didn't grease it, it could be very hard to get out. Probably the sleeve between the 2 bearings.

Soak and try a press before you use a hammer because I get the feeling that you will, and, you will mosh the threads

A press or a brass punch and a BFH work best. back and forth or press until success.......

You are missing something.....a manual.rtfm They can be downloaded for free if you do a search. It will make your life so much easier. Like DC said......soak it with penatrant and wait a day or so....... A small torch would help ya out too. Bernzomatic will do for that......

I have a 200ES front axle I'm trying to get out, soaked it for daaaaaayyyysss, then tried my press and a little heat, twice. It's in there good. I'll try again tomorrow. It's in the freezer right now. Right next to my Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia that I'm gonna eat whilst we watch a movie tonight. ;) With hot fudge of course. :)

before you hit the axle, put a nut at the end of the threads. It is a 14mm1.5 pitch. you can get such a nut at most auto parts stores, also honda uses the same nut on nearly every quad/trike since 85 on the swingarm bolt.

I use Kroil, which interestingly has the appearance of a50/50 mix of acetone and ATF :wondering
