I decided to work on my'85 350x again. Last time I took it to the Honda dealership because of carb running too rich and fouling spark plugs. It did not run any different after it was worked on. Haven't ridden it much because would always need to replace spark plug. It was stored over the winter and now this spring it had a weak spark then no spark. Replaced the spark plug with a known working one and no spark. Ive gone through the service manual and checked resistances and all are within specs. The only thing I can't check is the CDI box. Could the CDI have been the problem all along with fouling plugs and now no spark? I don't want to spend $100 for a part I'm not sure will fix the problem but I might not have a choice. Any suggestions out there
Also checked for any wires that could be chewed on by mice but everything looks intact.
Thanks in advance

Are you sure it's not a fuel problem? I would check closely to the carb first, needle, jet, air filter....

Shouldn't I still get a spark even if it is a fuel issue? The carb and jets have been cleaned. Filter is new.
I really want this fixed so I'm open to any suggestions. thanks

Did you check spark with a new plug and not one that was alread used and possiby fouled like you're having problems with?

Yes, the plug I have is new and tested it on another engine.

Well, if you have tested the ignition coil, voltage reg, and stator. And, all are within spec, the only other possibility (component wise) is the cdi. You did double check all electrical connections? All clean and tight? Could possibly be that the flywheel has lost it's magnetism. Haven't seen much of that though. Just a long shot.

Purchased a CDI on Ebay ($40). It looked like it was new. Good spark after CDI replaced. Started on second kick. So far no fouled plugs. Thanks for all the help.
