So I'd like to have an extended swinger on my 82 250r. Was planning on getting the original "stretched" but after reading through numerous threads (search feature does work ) I found one comment that stated it is "stamped" and not a ideal candidate to stretch. Other options are ebay and a minimum of $350 for period correct aftermarket versions, custom made $$$$ or I've seen several references of adapting a 450r quad swinger. 450r option lends to more parts availability and even aftermarket options. A couple of threads refer to a build on airfoolers.com that used/adapted the 450r swinger but for some reason I can't register. (keeps saying I answered questions wrong???? red....honda...3) Anyway anyone else adapted the 450r swinger or any other to a 1st gen? Would love to know what all is involved. Any info is welcomed!

Gary (enginerd) did it on an 82. That's the thread on af.com that you're searching for

Thats my problem though....I found the thread on here that pointed to the thread on AF.com but it won't let me register? Keeps saying I answered verification questions wrong and won't register me to view the forums. I know I registered probably 2 yrs ago but it's saying im not a registered user per my user name or email (which hasn't changed).

HREatv.com...he would make ya one and your close nuff to stop by and help design it yourself too. 250R 2st gens have the same narrow carriers as 1st gen 200x's 450R swingarm will make you use an eccentric chain adjuster so you would need swingarm chain block off plates. HRE has made them before for my 200x what use s 300ex swingarm. it would need offset at least and inch. building your own swingarm or having one made to bold up factory will eliminate a lot of unforeseen issues with swaping something over.

How far off is the width of a first Gen to a third Gen? If its really close ill tell you how a made a trx swinger work and can probably get you one pretty cheap. 814-312-4386. Hit me up Mike and see what we can figure out for you.

Appreciate the offer Dave but a 1st gen's sprockets are on the right side and a 3rd gen is on the left.
