Just got back from Sand Mountain NV with my 12:1 350x. After 3 attempts to build the engine I finally got it right. I was about to give up on the 12:1 thing and go back to stock. Man, I'm glad I stuck with it. I went out there with a 400ex, 450r, and a raptor 700. I was really blown away at the power my trike made. I was able to do anything the 450 and 700 did, however they were slightly faster. I had the 400ex's number, It couldnt go up some of the stuff we did. I was really suprised when I stomped the 400ex up comp hill, the 400ex was stock, but had a 120 lb rider on it, compared to my 350x with a 260 lb rider on it. It was also my first trip out with the rebuilt forks, what a difference that made. The sand was really rutted up and I think the old x was the most comfy ride out there. It was a blast. I think I even converted one of the quad guys that went. He hopped on the trike and it was actually hard to get him off of it. Next up will be a cam/rocker swap. I also need to rebuild or replace the entire front and rear brake systems, and have the seat recovered again. Here are the two pictures I took, one of the other riders took a bunch of action pics, but he has not got them to me yet.

If your rear x caliper is needing rebuilt. A cr80 cr85 front caliper works great. I have done this twice. It's a direct bolt on. You will not have a parking brake but I never used mine anyways. Plus the cables are usually froze. The price difference is amazing. 350x rear=@$100 new.used is @$60-70 . Used cr @$25-30!

That looked fun we allways plan on going to silverlake. What size paddles did you run. and You are still running stock cam/head?

I'm running 8 paddle tires, 22x10 or 11", 8" wheels. I run the straight paddle tires, I've run the v paddles, but honestly I like the straight paddles on everything better. I am still running the stock cam, I did not want to buy an aftermarket cam untill I knew the engine was going to be ok. It was really fun, I burnt through 7 gallons of 110 octane in it over basically a day and a half.

Thanks for the tip, my rear caliper is garbage. I actually removed my park brake assembly years ago, so the cr caliper would work great.

very cool man, glad to hear it ran like you wanted it to! Did you have to switch to race gas for that comp ratio? I think my buddy Gary still runs race gas in his 400X because they shaved the head down and upped the comp ratio to around what you have

I think it would detonate with 91 octane, so I just run 110 in it. To be honest I havent tried running straight 91 in it. I sometimes mix 91 and 110 50/50 and I havent had any issues with that either. I will say, if I could do it over, I'd run a 10:1 piston instead of the 12:1. I love the power of the 12:1, but I don't think there would be a huge difference, and I could easily run 91 in it. I picked up the 110 for $8 a gallon out here in reno, but I saw it as high at $15 a gallon here.

It's hard not to get a grin on your face when your riding a trike, just dang fun!
