Just wanted to point out how good a stock 83-85 200x's shocks are, me and jon have gone huge with these old bikes and they land great, the only limit to jumping is the motors power. im impressed!!:p

lol do you weigh 80 lbs? mine bottoms out after revalve at like 5 ft of air
Edit: not to sound mean or anything but do you consider a jump as high as a bmx bike big?? I know some people do that's why I ask. I find a 200x has enough motor to go huge its just limited in suspension.

this is the only 200x with great suspension...stock is junk and 5 inches is a joke, most people san sit on them and bottom them out.

Just curious, aside from being enamourred with the 200x’s suspension designed with space age Prerfabulated Amulite and Super Nano Thingamajiggy’s, which has super plush, extra long travel and superior stability aided by the massive 12 mm forks, which cushions a riders landing to a degree of comfort that that is unsurpassed in the industry and which would likely made the biggest jump feel like they had simply ran over nothing more than a BAD HONDA CDI BOX, is this the bike you needed to pull to start and if so did the new stator fix it?
Also, did you try the new coils with the old flywheel or vise versa to determine which one was bad?

Come on guys, to some people a cement block and some ply wood is a HUGE jump. Lol, now I started thinking about Napoleon Dynamite. Ever take it off any sweet jumps. Lol

Your weight plays a BIG part not to mention nearly all shocks have wear or are worn out, these ATC's have taken a beating since the 1980's. The aftermarket suspension/axle is the only real way to go for those big jumps, those stock axles can bend on you if you are not careful.

If you weigh 125lbs and have just hopped on after riding a hard tail ATC200 then I guess it would be pretty awesome.

LOL, well I took out my old 1980 185 the other day in the bumpy snow trails, and compared to that thing I must say my 200x suspension is AMAZING!!! :Bounce

I always liked the stock suspension. Rides pretty smooth on my trails, for what it is anyways.

Is it just my computer or does the video cut right before the landing?
Apparently "Big Air" is a relative term in this case......that was a "sweet jump" if I ever saw one...
Kudos for knowing your own limitations!!
I like the enthusiasm! The 1st gen suspension is terrible...lol!!

exactly, big to me is 50ft length by 15ft high max, ive gone 20ft on my x in front of a huge crowd and it landed supsingly good, im impressed with it. i gotta know my limits i got discharged from military from mx racing busted up to bad to reinlist, thats why is say the x is great, hey if you can beat our jumps on a x or even a old r post it!!
we look up to kintore and chickenhawk on here, those guys are pro!!

I have never seen an X jumped that high.
I'd be too afraid of the head tube cracking or it bottoming out so hard it launches you off it

hey if you can beat our jumps on a x or even a old r post it!!Well said brother! I love the put up or shut up mentality!
Noted. My next power sports endeavor is to start making some videos, finally! As a matter of fact, I should have a test video posted in my DX thread soon....and since the MX 200x is coming right along, it shouldn't be long before I can "put up!"
So until then I'll SHUT UP...if only to show that it happens now and then....:Bounce

call bs all you want, i flat out did it, i landed on a monster downslope and my helmet still almost bounced off, non the less i wheeled away and did it a second time in front of everybody (local dirt bike jump guys - had to show em what a trike could do!!)
dont have a vid but did you see the vid i posted of the 40 ft double jon overjumped? theres your proof a x has great suspension, hes a big guy and said it landed good, yall just aint pushin your 200's

Great action shot Mike! Or, should I say, Great photo by Mrs. Clean! Definitely shows the 200x at its limits. If it had any larger tires I could see you cracking those low-pros. Almost looks lik your front stabilizer is smashing into the fender mount :wondering:
And you arent a very big guy by the looks of it.

200X's are good for the trails stock and that's just about it. The flat out do not have enough travel and are way too soft.

03-19-2014, 10:22 PM
he is probably comparing the 200x to a 200s or something. the 200x suspension IS awesome compared to a rigid machine or a hardtail with marginal front suspension

03-20-2014, 11:18 AM
Nope, he just claimed in another thread that the 1st gen 200x suspension is better than the second gen R suspension, so he he's serious.
Got an 83r shock here, and an 83x shock here.
The x shock has less travel and less adjustability, not to mention its way too soft.
This thread is silly.

yeah that wasn't a bad jump in your vid I don't consider a 40ft double going huge but hey you did good man im not criticizing your ability. next time I hit the mx track on my banshee ill get a vid of the 80ft triple we clear (yes I have cased it while learning the sweet spot on my throttle) I am only saying that I have shot over a 40 foot gravel pit hill on accident and the 200 suspension is anything but forgiving Im 215 lbs and 6'3 and I bottom my banshee with elkas on the 80 ft triple I will agree the 200x is way easier to land on than a 200s though.

wow, me and jon was just trying to give credit to the 200x, it deserves it ive never had a bike with better suspension then a stock 200x, i dialed it in for my wieght and that was it, it is adjustable. like i said jons 6'1 205 and loves the suspension too. guess ill end my own thread here and to the dude with the banshee going 80ft, wheres the pics?
this whole thread has turned into a argument royally ticking me off, i dont know what yall rich boys are riding to call a 200x's suspension crap and complaining more than then women, but i sure havent seen any videos
if our 200x's shocks werent great we would have been sore the next day, missed work and such
im not a computer guy and dont appreciate you geeks input who dont even ride hard.

When you compare a 200X's suspension to everything else performance oriented out there, the 200X suspension sucks. And I am a big X lover. Like I said, it's good for trail riding, not for the track. Not enough bottoming resistance, not enough travel...it's just not good.

lol I will get vids rest assured and don't be mad bro no one is attacking you we just know the difference between semi ok suspension and amazing suspension and whether you want to admit it or not the 200x falls pretty damn shy of amazing get pissed bro but it doesn't change the fact that the 200x suspension is damn near 30 year old technology and it shows.
slashfan7964

Not to mention, it was one of the earliest sets of suspension Honda did as far as sport machines. The R was always Honda's baby, and it showed in everything else they put out.

Ive had my 200x on a mx track before railing jumps with fresh stock suspension and didn't have a problem with bottoming. 5-10 PSI of air really help. I also only weigh 150 lbs so maybe that helps.

Yeah us heavier riders (I put on 30 lbs recently so I'm up to 190-ish now :/) have issues with it
