Correct me if Im wrong but I measured the backspacing on my 185s rim to be 3.5 + 4.5. Is this considered to be 4 + 5 or is the first measurement correct. Im trying to fit 10 in rims on my 83 185s. The 85-86 Odyssey, 85-86 Quadracer, and the 89-90 Pilot all have a 4 + 5 4/130 rims. If the backspacing on the 185s is 3.5 + 4.5 would it be possible to put a .5 in spacer on the bike and use the 4 + 5 rim?

What about putting on a set of TRX hubs? I believe that widens the rear about 3/4 a side. If you use a spacer I believe you'd need longer studs. I've got a set of TRX hubs on my 200S, but I never measured how much it widened the rear. I'm sure someone here will chime in who knows for sure how much wider the TRX hubs are.

If the trx hubs work than the 400ex hubs should work too, I ran those on my air cooled r and it widened out the rear like an inch on either side

Jason is correct TRX/EX hubs will work, I just shortened it to TRX. ;)

Sorry guys I guess I mis worded it. I'm talking about the front rim. I already have the wider 450r hubs on the back axle. I'm trying to get the 10 in rim on the front.

Zach, if you are correct of your 3.5+4.5 measure..the 4+5 rim is fine. Though a 9" and not 10".. since the width of the rim is the sum of the inner and outer offset (4+5=9)
You are basically trading in a 8" rim for a 9" rim..adding an extra 1/2" on either side of the hub and the center positioning of the hub is the same.
No spacer needed..!!
