Picked this up monday night in the middle of a snow storm. The guy I bought it from texted me wondering if I had any parts for it ( tires and a good rear end) I didnt have the parts he was looking for so he asked if I would buy it. It runs but has low compression and well you can see the rest. Its a 1985 250es big red. I have been looking for a deal on one for quite awhile and just when I give up looking one falls into my lap. I have the seat for it as well and it still had the tool kit underneath. Doesn't even look like it has been used. This wont get touched for a little while other than getting some tires on the rear to roll it around the garage. I do have a spare engine that runs good and has good compression out of a 86 trx250 I may just throw that in there and rebuild the atc engine.

Not to say you didn't do ok, but those deals always seem so sweet when you found it..
A couple months and hundreds of dollars in fix-up goes by pretty fast!!
Good luck getting her back to running condition..hope she doesn't "new girlfriend" you too bad!! :naughty:

On a plus side there is no play in the rear end and the tank is rust and dent free. So if anything I have a decent parts bike. I know I could buy one in hood shape for less than I will have in this one but I love fixing them up and bringing back a dead trike. Its what keeps the sport alive. I'm currently going through my 86 200x every nut and bolt will be touched by the time I'm done. It was my first three wheeler so its very sentimental to me. I have dropped about 6 bills on parts so far and haven't even taken a bolt off the bike. So I know what it takes and I'm not afraid to drop the money on it.

Hey john I seen you have the left kicker side covers on eBay. Do you also make the right cover. I need both and its crazy what people ask for a used cover that will need to be polished up and need new decals.

If that gas tank is dent free and in good shape, you would make a decent chunk of change if not all your money back right now by selling it. Throw a set of decals on it and put it on eBatty for about 500 bucks and boom...200X parts fund lol.
Seriously though, I bet you could get the compression up, paint the racks, slap on some Maiers and tires and that thing would be a good everyday runner that looks good.

All I have left to buy for the 200x is a new piston kit and a couple odds and ends. This is my first 250es so I want to make it nice and learn about them on the way.

Nope, don't make the left side Ryan, sorry. As you seen on my listings I don't exactly sell mine cheap on ebay either so when you are ready for a right side cover please be sure to contact me thru here for 3ww member price.
Put up a wanted posting on here, I imagine some one has one laying around not being used (hopefully).
