My fuel cap broke today, need to get a new one. '86 350x. The fuel tank has no markings on it, it's plastic and looks similar to a clarke. A few years ago the petcock broke and I ordered a clarke petcock. It was not the same, very close, I modified it a tiny bit and it worked. The X has been with me for about 9 years and my brother had it 3 years prior to that, the tank was on it when he bought it. I'm not sure if anyone else ever made a tank, but before I pull the trigger on a $37 cap I'd like to make sure it will fit. Thank you in advance. This is the best pic I have of it on my computer.

On another note, the yellowing almost all vanished when I gave the tank a bleach bath....

if you have a 250r gas tank cap from a 85/86 gas tank it might fit, a 250r gas tank cap fit on my 200x ims tank

might also want to check on amazon for a replacement cap if you can figure out what it is, they're way cheaper than 37 bucks

Im almost certain it is an ims tank now. I looked at a few pics of ims tanks and the similarities keep adding up. It has bolt on mounts and it's higher capacity than stock tanks. It also used a factory style fuel petcock like the ims 350x tanks do. I compared my cap to the older style ims caps and its a match. I ended up ordering a ims replacement cap, which was only $14. The Clarke cap was so high because it was a tusk brand aluminum model, the plastic clarke brand replacement cap reviews all said to not waste your money, buy the tusk cap.

Thanks for the help by the way, I would have never thought to look at ims as an option. IMS still sells this tank by the way, I cant find it anywhere other than their website though.
