Guess what it cost.

$575, thats right, correct number.
Corse it was a 4 hour round trip...
The tank is coated, and the rear end is welded in a couple of places, and one tire is plugged.
But I'm curious,
Since I wear cowboy boots,
is there anything I can put on the kick starter to increase grip? My boot keeps slipping off.
And what would it take to replace the fork boots?

Start the machine off the side facing backwards. I see that it is an 86-87 motor in an 83-85 frame (quality?) so that may be hard. Your best bet is to get a pair of new boots that are cheap and grippy that you can use for riding only. I like boots that have a thin toe so you wont have trouble reaching under the shifter when upshifting.
Replacing boots is a bit of a hassle, or can be. OEM fork boots are worth their weight in gold if they're NOS. They bring in the cash, so that may not be the first option for you. There are boots from summit racing, and they work but the fit is better on long-travel machines, like the 350 and R. Heres the link: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/exp-12127/overview/

To replace the boots, loosen the fork bolts on the trees (left and right side of the trees there should be 2 bolts, remove them) then the whole front end should slide out of the trees. Make sure to lift the front of the bike way up so you have enough room to take out the forks. Then put boots on (with clamps) and reassemble.

I discovered once you dry the tarter off and scrape the mud off your boots you can kick pretty easily.

Could you take a pic of it with the tank off. I'm wondering if they had to cut the frame to fit the taller second gen engine in the frame.

Are your sh*t kickers surgically attached to your feet? Do yourself a favor and get some proper gear, or just ride a horse.:beer

Just took her for my first ride. AMAZING! Took anything a hardtail would break my neck on and turned it into a gentle sway. And after dark.
