Has anyone tried sled studs in wheeler tires? My bro just removed all his and now we have a pile of them. Maybe ill find an extra set of rears and see what happens. Any input or figures/videos would be nice. Thanks guys!

Unless you're talking about the type of studs that simply screw into the track lugs it's not going to work too well.

The typical push-through type studs that go in the track belt go all the way through and thread into a backer plate on the inside of the track belt. I suppose you could run a tube, but I'm thinking a tube wouldn't play well with the backers for very long.

How the heck did he get around the issue I mentioned above??? Just run tubes and figure on short tube life??

My friend has a xr 650 studded for ice racing and he uses a old street bike tire inside of his tire to pad the tube. all you need is something to cover the stud backs before inserting the tube.

A lot of guys up here use the tire in tire method for ice racing. I had a set on my 86 yz 490 2 smoke. They hooked up great

I had snowmobile push through studs in my Banshee tires. I used a track cutting tool to make a nice round smooth hole, and put 3/8 fender washers on the inside to help stabilize them. It worked great, my buddy owns the Banshee now and still uses the tires. They hold air just fine, no need for a tube.

It's common place among dirt/grass drag racers. I'm not sure if they run tubes or not. I can tell you that some of the quads running them, I have seen with all four tires off the ground when they launch.

Tis is what we have. I can get a rubber hole cutter, I've done many studs. I'm just curious if they are air tight or tube friendly. Or if tires aren't solid enough to hold them. If I can get a cheap rim and tire ill just give it a try.

Well my dads coworker just called and said he has a set of the square knobbys on honda rims, 40$ for both. Ill hopefully get the studs in this next week and see how they work! I made a tire debeader when putting a new front on a friends 200x and it didnt work on that wheel, hopefully it will work for the rears this time.

I used some studs like that in some duro tires a while back the kind with tread like /\/\/\ I cut an innertube and used it as a liner then put the good inner tube in ran em for years on my banshee. I will say this. don't drive through the neighbors yard with em and blip the throttle...instant roto tiller. I had the pink breast cancer awareness backing plates too. I would love to get my hands on another set of studs.

Well my bro is bringing an extra front wheel he has laying around, so we're going to try it tomorrow. And I made myself a nice little stud drill bit. Works real good.

So we got the front done. Bent mounted or anything just studs installed. 60 total. The rears will have another ring on either side of this pattern, I think that will be 86 if I remember right.

I'd put a little little slime in each hole just because
