I picked up a 86 Trx 70 with no stator or flywheel. Got another motor with flywheel and pullstart from a buddy except he already took that stator out too. So has anyone found a replacement stator coil that fits right in? Id prefer not to buy the aftermarket setup for 200.00 I see online. Thanks for all the info.

I messed around a lot with pit bike, TRX70, XR50 and XR70 engines/wiring. All of witch are CDI ignition. The TRX 70 is the odd man out in this bunch. You can get it to run with a pit bike stator, I think they cost like $20 or less on ebay. But the wiring isn't going to match up. I have made a pit bike motor run with TRX70 wiring and a XR50 CDI but I had to plug in wires that didn't match and hook 2 female connectors together so that didn't plug up. So if it were me I'd spend the $20 for a pit bike stator, make sure it has the pick up coil with it, it will work correctly with the stock TRX70 flywheel (I ran a TRX70 flywheel on an XR50). Then just study where each wire goes and figure how they plug up. That or if you want it to be more of a plug and play then buy the pit bike wiring harness and CDI as well. These parts are cheap but I think its a bit of a waste of money if you have any ability to follow wires and figure out where they go.

So are the pit bikes trigger coil mounted in the same spot as the trx? Or will it trigger it at the wrong time? From what ive been reading they are in a different position on the mounting plate. Or should I just transfer the parts over to the original mounting plate.

Where did you see they are different? I don't have any written documentation that proves they are the same or anything like that. But I did run a TRX70 flywheel on an XR50 and it ran fine. So that leads me to believe the pickup is in the same place. And since the pit bike stuff is a clone of an XR50 I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Im not going to guarantee it but if were me Id go for it.

http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/144023-Bought-a-TRX70-and-need-to-learn-about-them Hey Blown331.....did you ever swap that crf50 stator onto the trx?? That would be a great fix for those bikes if it works as the trx stuff is pretty hard to find??

I was able to get spark so I did not try the swap. But I am confident it would work since I did miss match almost every other part of the 2 ignition systems. I still have that pit bike stator so I could try the swap and see what happens. But I don't really feel like it. Lol.

Ok I thought the 50's had the pulsar in a different spot. I read on another site someones also caught on the flywheel a bit. They adjusted it a bit. Great info I appreciate it!

Now that you mention it I did have to adjust it. It was not a big deal at all and I totally forgot about that. It ran fine.
