Ok I been starting the 200x from standing on the bike I brought it around my dad which rode dirt bikes back in the day. And he started it from standing on the side. I never owned a sport atv except a blaster which you kicked backwards on top of the bikes so do I supposed to start it from the bike or standing beside it...also heel or toe? So please don't kill me too bad and let me know

I've done it both ways. I usually kick it standing on it, and when I get tired I'll get off it and kick it standing on the ground.
As far as heel or toe I've just kicked it in the center at the crease of my foot.

Ok I thought I might be looking like a moron starting it like that. I do feel a little better now. I honestly searched the internet and on here before I posted I came up with a whole lot of nothing.

Good info for me too... I'm buying one this weekend...
I do know standing on, facing forward, hard to say about toe or heel, I wear cowboy boots, all the time, So I'd probably put it in between, right in front of the heel, but always wear boots, I do know that.

Nah I wouldn't worry about it. You won't look like an idiot. I've done that with bikes too. Sometimes I find I have more oomph standing on the side than on it.

I kicked it standing on it and putting the kicker in the crease of my boot. Please, do not kick it in moccasins or slippers, I have had bruised and bloody ankles and shins from kickback. Wear proper feet protection. If you wanna play it safe and save your strength, kick it backwards on the side of the bike.
Or look on eBay for a goki starter.

If I can start a yz426 from sitting down wearing Vans with my weak leg in 1 kick, then I'm sure you can kick a 200x however you want. Its all in the tuning of the bike, technique and the position of the piston in relation to top dead center when you kick it.
The position of your body makes no difference. Don't kick it with your arm....lol.

Mine likes to kick back once in a while if I crack the throttle while kicking. I stand to the side and kick backwards on mine. No sense in smashing my shin again.

No offense but cracking the throttle while kick starting a four stroke should not be necessary when the bike is tuned properly, and is not good for the bike. Its also dangerous.
I'm telling you, with a properly tuned engine, you can kick start any four stroke with about 10 inches of lever travel.
As far as the kicking backwards method on the X, its the ONLY way I've ever been injured kicking a bike.
Over and out.

X2
After mine kicked back into my shin when I was on the trike trying to start it, I was done with that. More leverage and no chance that it comes back and gets ya in the shin when you stand off it backwards.
I dont know how DOHC got injured doing it :wondering

I have to spray the piss out of my motor to get it to start

I like the side step and kick method my self. Just be sure to kick the engine over slowly until it starts the compression stroke and hardens up, then kick it through. Best thing I ever learned while kicking over my 350x. Had lots of hurt legs and feet from back-kick. Lol..

My dad used to kick his 58 panhead from the side. Worked much easier with all that compression.

I would never even think about kicking a trike standing beside it? Whats the point. When standing ontop of it you have all your weight to push on the kicker...
And besides, its a 200x, you could probably start that thing with your hand.
Even my one 85x with no decompression cable isn't that bad to start, and i'm only 170lbs.

It was never hard for me to start. It's the fact I wanted to save my shin. Ask around, it happened to tons of people on here and they all learned too. My kick starter was welded back on by the last guy and angled in slightly. So if your shoes wet and you kick it 9 times out of ten you would get wacked.
And before anyone says well a properly tuned bike only takes 1 kick. I would wear shoes or something while I tinkered around with it getting it all fixed up and tuned in. I wasn't always wearing boots. I don't even own riding boots.
I was just giving my 2 cents on how I did it when I wanted to be safe. I kicked it backwards off the trike. Other people do it too.

You ride trikes but don't own riding boots......... genius.

Stand on the right peg with left foot, grab bars like a circus monkey, roll it over till you get to compression and give it a smooth kick with the right foot. Mine starts all the time. This method makes a lot of compression manageable. Also when you kick em sitting down with muddy boots taking a kicker to the shin smarts a little.

Do I own a 250r? A 350x? T3 or Tri-z? No. I own hard tails and a couple 225dx's. I bump around the trails on 1st and 2nd gear looking for animal tracks and enjoying the scenery.
I wear steel toed boots I used for carpentry. I am poor, I can't afford $300 boots. I have a back problem and I couldn't even afford to ride a performance trike right now. I don't feel like explaining it, I have tons of times here.
Genius? I like to think I'm pretty smart, but I don't hear that often. I hope you could understand.
