That 350X looks like an oil spewing, beat down mess IMO, needing at least 2gs in parts and repair to be a rider. There are some decent machines up here, I guess I personally would have spent a bit more for ten times the bike-

Oh ya, point taken definitely, but I would rather get in for $500 and go from there. I highly doubt that I will ever spend $1000 on the original purchase price of a trike. Knowing me I would buy a nice one and spend 2 grand changing it anyway.

the one liquid got would have been probably up for $1500

Anyone know if I can use a 250sx thumb throttle lever for the 350x? This thing has a pos twist throttle and I HATE twist throttles.

Yes, it is the same other than the cable which may mount up but it is a different length.

come on EZ, dont discourage the guy! Dont look half bad for the price. if you forget about the 100 or so you must have spent on gas!LOL. hey. its titled, thats worth a few hundred right there! I have to admit though, considering your location and your willingness to travel you probably could have done slightly better for few more bucks with some searching. The deals are plentiful out there. Congrats on the purchase, and welcome back to the darkside! If I can help out with any parts let me know. I think the sx throttle is the same, cable length is probably different, but should work?
Dirt wheels beat me to it, i had left my computer mid type, excuse the echo!

Was wonderin if Mrs. Mosh needed a pattern for a 350x tank cover. I got this one here she could take apart I guess for the pattern if she needed it, then hook me up with one of the finished product.

I've been wondering where I can get those old tank covers redone. I have one for a 200X made by CEET that's worn like that but no cuts in it.

Muffler had a hole in it and was tweaked a bit from being hit I guess.. Lights work %100 on it. I thought that was cool.
Yes it runs real good. Starts up on 3d kick. Filled it up with oil and cold started it, no smoke. Thing runs like a rapped ape!! SCared me when I took off in 1st gear with that twist throttle. :lol:Had to hold on for dear life, lol.. More pics coming..

if you build a bike right you will put over 3k into it hands down. There is no such thing a few bucks here and there unless you can ride a clamped out unsafe machine.

I don't think you over paid at all! It's complete and runs! In theory, you can get it down to the bare frame, gusset it, then replace all the bearings, go over the brakes, throw a good exhaust on it and be done! Aside from anything I/we/you don't know about. I paid $225 for a burnt 350X engine/frame/forks. Engine was locked up from water. Then I paid $100 for the 86 roller. So, I had nearly a complete bike that didn't run for only $175 less then what you paid for yours. And, I've had to replace everything on the chassis including fenders. Not to mention all that I spent on rebuilding the engine, which should be running next week. A 350x around here in Va will sell for $1500 all day long. Many are going for closer to $2000. So, in a way I'm happier having taking the route I choose. But, on the other had....

Yeah the frame from what I can see, had a few small cracks welded up near the rear rubber gromets that hold the latch of the seat.. Paint is not bad either no rust. Bled the rear brakes and they had some meat left on the pads. They work good now. Gotta get me a front brake master cylinder/perch/lever to get my front brakes working. Yeah I agree, get a bike you can fix up. Makes it a more personal machine.. I think this bike had the front forks and rear shock rebuilt, they are really stiff when I jump up and down on the machine. Like they have lots of pressure or something. :wondering Plus the rear canister for dampering the suspension has a sticker on it from some kind of shop I guess. It feels real strong and sturdy though, not all squishy like my last bikes were..

By the way, that sticker says (FineLine Motorsports)... Anyone know of this from california or anywhere? Maybe this bike had the suspension rebuilt and maybe some engine work cause this thing does not run like a stock 350x, that or I am not use to the lowend and midrange.. It would be cool if it did have some engine work done..:naughty:

Let the air out of the front forks.... suspension feels normal now lmao.. SIgh..

Here are some more pics.. My phone sucks.. hehehe.. The oil leak is not as bad as it seems. Its only the valve cover leaking but had lots of miles of leaking before I got it. Changed the oil, man this thing purrs now from only a few toutchups.. I may need a muffler and a rear fender but its coming togeather..

Yeah Devilman here from the boards proly has most of the parts I need to make this a complete good looking running bike..

I gotta put a new oil filter on her, pop off the valve cover and reinstall it with some red high temp RTV sealant.. Once this thing gets a rear fender, some new grips, black fork boots, and a new fuel tank or a tank cover. Its on for sure :naughty:. I plan on going to Gorman OHV park this summer at least twice.

Once I get to the dmv in a couple of weeks, I will have the registration and green sticker all taken care of. Then I will be taking her out into the country to our favorite riding spot and put some some real miles on her..

Question, can I take off and put on the valve cover/rocker box with the engine in the frame?? I hope I can that way all I have to do is remove the top engine 3 bolts and the cover.. Anyone??

ThreeBond 1194 is the same as HondaBond, YamaBond, etc. However, it is not the same as James Bond

With regard to fixing the leak: Hondabond is the correct material to use. But PLEASE check out the service manual carefully. They show exactly where NOT to put sealant when you do that job. The area around the camshaft journals is sensitive. There is a keep out zone shown in the book. I think the issue is that if you get too much material in the keep-out zone, you can compromise the cam journals. Use a nice smooth and thin layer of Hondabond in the correct locations and you will be good to go.

Liquid-Darkness
03-17-2014, 03:24 PM
You think maybe they also dont want you to have the keepout areas with bond, cause it might clogg the oil passages and pump if it comes loose??
