What To Do? Seat Pan Problem

just got a new seat cover in for my 84 110. mind you i just successfully recovered and re foamed the seat on my 1974 honda xr 75 that shares the same style seat pan. as i was removing the old seat cover from the 110 seat, all the metal triangle barbs that hold the cover onto the seat pan are breaking off! am i going to have to try and track down a new seat pan or do any of you have any suggestions on how i can attached the cover securely and permantly to my seat pan?

I have used gorilla glue on a beater trike. Worked well but Wouldn't recommend it for a super nice trike.

Start looking for a seat pan in better shape!

I've ran into similar situations with mine. Have found taking exacto-knife around and cutting the seat off without touching metal tabs helps alot. Because once that's done you're able to pull whats left sideways somewhat versus strait up and that's probably what's breaking these off. That and take thin wide blade screw driver & easily prying up slow. Beats buying new used off eBay.

Well its not a super nice trike but not really a beater either. The seat cover was only 29$ no shipping charges. I REALLY dont want to track down another pan and run into the same problem at first I was hoping the pan was plastic and had my staple gun ready im just going to have to toy around with ideas I dont mind using glue I just do not want it to come off I might just try fabbing up some pieces that I can wrap around through the holes and kind of remake what was once there with some metal and the welder

I use short self tapping screws on mine when the pan is rusted.

I cut up some small triangle pieces and have started to tack them onto the pan and am hoping for the best

I have done the same on an ATC70. Works great and you cannot tell what so ever when the seat is installed. I see no drawbacks to this at all.

Thanks! it did not come out as nice as the one I did on my xr 75 but this seat pan was in rough shape. has a few rotted spots along with all the broken tabs that I had to make and weld on. it could have used a new seat foam too, but my goal was to end up better than what I had and that's what I accomplished. the torn decaying seat cover had to go and now my 110 is that much closer to looking complete
