Duros or Hoosiers for TT?

So I'm slowly getting my X ready for ashtabula and I'm just getting ready for rear tires
So, would you run hoosiers or duros in the back? I am running a 23.5" front NOS knobby
For those that are unknown to the tires...
OR... if you think I should get something else I'm open to options. I had originally narrowed it down to these two but I didnt go through every tire ever made

Duros - 18" and $72 each

Honestly go with some lawn mower tires.They work the best.You want some slide action.Besides they were very popular back in the 80s.Worked then and will work now.I use them myself.

I could buy about 8 lawn mower tires for the price of a set of either of these so it's not a bad idea...

Duros........ I have a 4th and 5th place trophy with them at that track in vintage 2 stroke class on a Tri Z and a 250r. Trust me.....they will work.......... Nothing against Hoosiers but they seem to be too hard to break traction and slide in the corners????? Get the Duros bro...... Gear that sumbiotch up for that monster straightaway........

Those are some pretty big tires for a 200x . I would pm mickey Dunlop and ask him I wouldn't think you would want either.

What about Ohtsu R903's? I think that they are more of a flat track tire but I've always liked the look of them

I believe they quit making the RA series Carlisle after the demise of three wheeler racing and after Mickey Dunlap quit using them. I would love to have a set for my 200X project that I am building for my Son.

I think that I know the tire that you're referring to, and I've never seen anything else like them. Turf masters are kinda close
Arent the RA's the tires that had like small S-type lugs really close together? Like the ones on steve shroud's bike?

186608 Those are probably to big for 200x maybe for mx . You probably wouldn't want anything wider than 7.5 inches wide for a tt track if you want to turn. ohtsu 902 would work there about 16x7.8x8 .

RG97 those are exactly the tire. I don't know why they worked so well but they had great traction on a lot of different dirt types. Plus you could slide them.

If you look around on craigslist you could find some flat track tires and rims fairly cheap.
I got american racers for $100. I have seen a set of 4 for $125.

Sorry if I make you jealous but I found a set. Based on the description they are a new set of RA's. Picking them up tomorrow for $100. Size is 16" x 7.5" on 8" rims.

Does anyone know which tire is softer, the duro or the hoosier?

Keith I ran the Hoosiers on my quad. You could get them in various compounds. From really soft to firm. I think the scale went "0" compound was the softest and "30" was the firmest. They went in increments of 10.
