I am attempting to restore a 1984 250r. Just replaced extended swing are with factory swing arm and when I was putting the axle back in I realized I might be missing a "lock" on the sprocket side. What holds the
Sprocket/ splined bolt on and keeps them from potentially working their way lose? Is there something I am missing? Thank you for any suggestions!

are you referring to the axle lock nuts? or the large snap ring that keeps the carrier in place?
snap a couple pictures and post them up. that'll help out a bunch

It's opposite side of the carrier from the snap ring. I will try and get some pics posted. It's on the side with the large splined nut.

I can't get pics right now. Does anyone know? The axle doesn't have any threads for a nut to hold everything in place. I picture a snap ring holding it in place. I wish I could describe this better.

Pic of a stock axle. Note on the left side of the pic the splines for the disc brake rotor stay and the threads to the left.
Also note the two large thin nuts on the far left side of the hardware pile. This is what is secures the axle assembly once assembled.
Aftermarket axles should have the same provisions for disc brake rotor stay and axle fade/lock nuts.

Thank you!! It appears the person who had this before me used a completely different axle thank stock. Mine doesn't have any threads for a lock nut, the splines just taper down on both sides with a grove cut around it for some type of lock. I guess I am gonna order a stock axle off eBay. Thank you very much!

I have a durable axle its almost like a liquid cooled 250r axle, has a brake fade of types, circlip and trx like nut.

Heres a good pic of the 83-84 250r rear axle setup. The axle you have may be after market or 86-87 200x.185624

Thanks guys for all the help. I am confident that my axle is not stock now. I cannot figure out how to load pics. I am on this forum via my phone so I will try on my computer soon just so y'all can see what I was trying to describe. I am watching that axle on eBay and hopefully will get one soon. Thanks again for all the help!
