View Full Version : ATV on Demand: 200X Confirmed, 250SX Likely

You guys already know about the 350X that they did, both the stock review and modern updates. The second gen 250R will be getting the same treatment, both stock and modified, and they have recently confirmed they will also be doing this with the 200X, though which generation I am unsure of. Likely the first, but I have asked.

The 250R's stock video will be out near the end of February, and the rebuild/modded version will be out about a month after, so the 200X should be out sometime this summer. Just thought you all should know.

I would like to contact them to see if they would be interested in doing a Tecate or Tri-Z as well. Would be cool to see.

Do they do stock builds or High performance builds? If they do aftermarket high perf. stuff on the 200x I would love to see what they can come up with. the vintage aftermarket stuff is getting rarer and rarer by the day

They buy a stock bike usually and review it, point out it's faults and pleasures, and then do a "modernized" build. They basically take an all stock bike, strip it to the frame, and rebuild it with some modern components while keeping it "vintage". The 350X build they did received entirely new suspension while keeping the forks the same size, the seat got larger, they put a 12:1 piston in it, camshaft, etc. It got pretty extensive. They said the 350X build alone cost $6,000, not including the cost of the bike.

You can watch both 350X videos here. This should give you an idea.

They mentioned "a list", so there may be others after the 200X. I don't really know right now, but I'll keep up on it. I love seeing this stuff.

They already did a 3rd gen R. It is Rob Ray's.

Here is the 33W link...for some reason the pictures are gone. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/148305-ATVonDemand.com-Honda-ATC250R-Vintage-Motocross-Build-and-Restoration?highlight=rob+ray+250R

They haven't released the video for the R yet. Believe it comes out in February. This is pretty awesome never realized race tech does atc suspension. Definitely going to look into this for my R.

I wouldn't mind seeing more from them. I loved that desert seat, and after sitting on my X one I got the bars on it, I found myself placing a call to CosmicQuads. The company they used to make the desert foam seat. Not the worst of prices, but, I'm holding off until I finally get paid.

I like to see them do a 250sx build with a big bore, 350x forks, etc... That'd be cool

cant race it...would be pointless lol. however you can build it and ride it.

Yeah I made mention of that previously. In the 350X video, they said Race Tech had never done an ATC suspension before but weren't afraid to try it out, so hopefully they'll start putting quality parts into production (long shot) for several ATC models.

I would like to send a formal email on behalf of 3WW (if that's ok) to ATVonDemand asking various questions etc. I would like some questions from you guys to submit.

The suspension race tech did on the 350 was night and day compared to the stock suspension. And yes, get the desert seat foam, being 41 and very abusive to my body, it was so much easier to go from seated to standing with that seat!! I wished I did that on my R. I believe I'll be giving Tammy a call soon.

Given the theme they are using, my guess is the 200X will look very similar.

I would imagine it would be so with the suspension. They never were very good in that department. I supposed for the average rider it's fine, but when you really get into it, it's a very weak point on the entire trike.

The only thing I wish is that the plastics hid the seat a bit more on the 350X. The seat looks extremely large and out of place on it, but that's just me haggling at little things.

The only thing we had to do was put in .52kg springs in the forks. They sent .48 and they were just too soft, I was bottoming them on some of the smaller jumps on my track. Now it handles awesome, and I wasn't afraid to go big on it. It's not my R, but pretty dang close!!

Screw looks guys, I'm going for comfort!!! I'm in my mid twenties and have arthritis in both knees, I need that seat. I added an 1" of foam to my Warrior's seat, and added the newer Raptor 350 pegs. Talk about a night and day difference! So, yeah, I'll be getting a Cosmic Quad desert seat.

Hearing that it's almost as good as an R with those upgrades makes me giggle. No one would see that coming

ATV on Demand has confirmed the 200X will be a first generation trike as they said "it will have to be a first gen since the second gen models have much less aftermarket support". That was what I wanted.

I have also asked for a time frame and if they plan on doing any other trikes.

slashfan7964
02-03-2014, 10:08 PM
They have gotten back into contact with me. They have said once the 250R is out of the way then they will start the search for a 200X to evaluate and build up. They are interested in doing other trikes as well, but nothing is officially on the list as of right now.

I have made mention that there are people interested in donating a 200X for use if they want it. I have also made mention that several of you guys might like to see a 250SX build, as well as possibly a Tecate 3 and Tri-Z 250. Once we get the big ones out of the way, different models might be done. How interested are you guys in seeing a first gen 250R build?

We shall see what they say. Everything's looking up right now, they are very interested in trikes.

I agree, and from the looks of it, they will be doing one in the future, or at least a stock review, at least according to Rob a few posts above.

They have replied to my comment, and here's the latest update on things.

They are going to have to purchase a 200X soon for their build on that which was a given. The 250SX was also mentioned about doing a review on, they said them and Rob have been in talks about it (as Rob previously mentioned). Again, we knew this. They said they would love to do tests on all the bikes I mentioned, which were the 1981-1982 250R, 1983-1984 250R, various Tecate's and a Tri-Z 250. They said they will continue doing the vintage tests so long as they remain popular, and that they were fun and different from what everyone else is doing. If there is a something you want built, speak now!

So things are looking up!!
