hi im looking for a pipe better than a fmf fatty,Hello William;
It would help if you told us what you wanted to be "better" about another pipe.
What do you not like about yours?

The pipe in photo is purportedly a CT. It looks like the one in your ebay link. I don't remember if FMF made more than one type of pipe. If they did, I don't know which one the person below had.
I just replaced my FMF pipe with a CT pipe and the difference is amazing.. It sounds better, it pulls harder... $144.73 shipped on Ebay.. The deals are out there...

Why do you say Fattys are crappy?
Because there are a lot of other pipes that perform better..

That totally depends on what you want your power focused on and what other mods you are using along with it.

Yes, Arlan handbuilt my entire exhaust system. It's on my bike in my sig pic

True, but i've ran most pipes that are offered for the ATC's and IMO the fatty offered the least amount gained. But i guess it does depend on where you want your power focused.
Because there are a lot of other pipes that perform better..
That I understand. But I would hardly call fatty's crappy....Especially when you can grab holeshots down a 200 ft stretch amongst 450 conversions.
It is not about a this vs. that of racing or rider.
But What I would like to see is people get away from putting down products based on internet conversation or mass public opinion that may not have the best research or facts behind those opinions.
In a world of products that grows smaller everyday for these 3 wheelers, I would prefer a manufacture not get on a forum and read terms of "crappy, junk, or POS" in reference to a product that is still being produced.
As long as the product performs well and does what it is intended to do. Instead, I would like to see everyone base thoughts or opinions a little more factual and polite so that a guy that makes pipes primarily for a new age of 4 strokes (which I am sure he can do just fine without selling 3 wheeler pipes) does not read on forums that a pipe he has made for 20+ years being referred to in a derogatory way, to make him say "well if they don't like it.."F" it... I will just quit making the product" which leaves us with one less thing provided for these old machines.
By all means if something is flawed or causes problems then yeah it should be pointed out.
But I digress. If the OP wants a "top end pipe" then yes the Fatty is not really a top end pipe. He may want to look at the ESR 5 or a Paul Turner Hi Rev.
But My FMF Fatty has served me very well.;)

And just to add the OP was asking about porting or buying used ported jugs a few days ago. IMHO, I would advise he port the cylinder and do the engine mods first. The FMF can run well on ported engines with big carbs. I should know ^^^.
Then if he decides he wants to amplify those engine mods then move into pipes. but if we are strictly talking dumping a pipe on a stock 250R, then throwing the best top end pipe at it will be disappointing. For instance I know from personal experience if you put a ESR 5 pipe on a stock 250R you could very well make the misinformed assumption the ESR pipe does not perform well. But that is not the case. It is a great pipe but you need some power to really see the benefits of what it can do.

I hated my FMF fatty pipe on the 250r. I was actually eye balling that sectional on Ebay as a suitable pipe I could run for normal riding, looks nice

I have a ct pipe like the one your looking at it pulls pretty good in the midrange .I really want the other pipe he is selling but it looks like to much of a project for me http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-1986-ATC-250R-Paul-Turner-Pipe-Exhaust-/310849137914?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item48600d6cfa&vxp=mtr

I have run the Fatty on a stock cylinder set up for high compression with a 38 AS carb. And let me tell you, it was not a top end screamer by any means, but even though it was still stock ported, it pulled very strong in the mid. And I will say this, I felt a bigger boost in the seat of the pant dyno with the carb, not the pipe. But the whole package seemed to run pretty strong IMHO for a stock port. I'm not saying it was a freak giant killer, but it was significantly better than stock.
Now my 350 ESR with TRX9 port, race fuel dome, 38 AS carb ESR pipe and ESR reeds really shines in the mid-top. Keeps on pulling when the other setup would sign off looking for the next higher gear. I do plan on upgrading to a 40.5 PWK to complete the build focus. I think my 38mm might be holding it back just a little possibly....

I run my stock cylinder w/ vforce and 36mm carb and the DG National Expansion...LOVE IT! Instant abrupt power from bottom through the mid but if you want to be able to rev to the moon this is not the pipe for you, my old fatty reved further for sure, that's my 2 cents
Find a PSI if you want revs and bottom end

Guess I am one of the only people that like the FMF Fatty exhaust. Mine has a killer midrange hit that revs out nice on the top end. Until I ride another 250r and notice a big difference between exhausts or mine falls apart it will never leave my trike.
