i was going to get my 250r ported by flowtek, but what do you guys think of that cylinder? let me know your opinions, i was looking for a mid to topend port to

I just looked at the one picture other than the main one (a shot of the intake porting) and it looks like a pretty peppy cylinder. is your R piped? That will help as well. A media blast and powdercoat on there will make your 250r look great, and run better.

it has a fmf fatty, im getting a PT high rev or somthing eventuallyImo, descriptions mean little because they are subjective and thre info is coming from a seller which means they have a vested interested in moving their product so their description might be "glorified" a bit.


What I see in the photos is:

Very minor work done on the entrance to the transfer ports. The cyl porters I know all put a sharp edge on the transfer port divider.

No work on the transfer tunnels.

No work on the transfer ports in the cylinder.

Some work on the intake and intake to transfer ports.

I did not see a photo of the the exhaust.

No one can determine what the actual port timing specs are simply by looking at a photo therefore imo, its virtually impossible to determine if it is ported for mid range or top end.

You might consider sending it to Flowtek, Jason Hall, Harry Klemm or Arlan Lehman at LED to get the specs determined and the ports "cleaned" up a bit if necessary.

They can give you an idea of how it will run as is, and advise you on changes to fit your desired performance level.

If the exhaust port has been raised much, you will likely need to increase your compression to compensate for the compression that is lost from this process.

If you use a Wossner piston, you should get the squish angle on your head changed to match the piston.

Obviously get the cylinder bore checked if you want to run it without boring it.


PIPE -It is best to match your pipe to your cylinder mods because all the parts work together as a package.

To be fair, Barnett is spot on with his reply....


I would be leery of buying a used "ported" cylinder unless I personally knew and/or trusted the seller....You could end up with a cylinder that is ported all wrong for what you want and you could end up paying for a port job anyway....

^^^ agreed. I told him to check it all over for a porters sig when he gets it. Hopefully he does find the Paul turner marks on it,,, at least then we'd know a little more about the jug.

IMO it didn't look to have a lot of work done to it. But then again I've only seen heavily port LT250R, LT500R and YTZ250 cylinders to compare my memory against (oh an a CR85 jug that's off a shifter kart).

Worst comes to worst he will have a spare top end that he could have a different style of port work done to.

Someone hook him up with one of PSI's ATC pipes,, there's his top end pipe lol

Slap that baby on and see how she does. Use your Butt Dyno. I like the simple approach
