Is the difference in the kick starters due to the different frames ? So if I put a SX engine in a 250es frame I should use the ES kicker ?

Thx . Chop

I thought the kickers were the same.... Hmmm!!!! I'd say use the ES kicker in the ES chassis

SX/ES kickers are different, ES swings out further away from the rider when in use. The two styles are unmistakable. Not sure if there are 3 or 4 variants: '85SX '86-7SX and ES? not sure if the 86-7 pivot upgrades where on the ES version or not. All I know is '85 kickers are worthless when they get worn.

I put and sx engine in my es and didn't swap kickers. No issues.

I thought so too . The SX has a straight shaft , the ES has a curved shaft . Plus the swivel connection is different . Makes sense to use the ES kicker .

Ya same here. I've never owned an ES but I have stripped a few so I'm not as intimate with the parts as I am with the SX parts.
