Has anyone ever raced the baja 1000 on an ATC? Or is it against the rules to run a 3 wheeler?

There have been hundreds of fellas over the course of 81-86 to race it. In 1984, Team Honda ATC took second OVERALL on a well prepared, basically stock 1985 ATC 250R. Write that down and say it again lol. OVERALL.. BEAT the trophy trucks, Beat the buggies, and Beat ALL but 1 Motorcycle.. OVERALL. I SHOULD remember the team mates, but it is escaping me and boy am I ashamed of that. It was a HUGE victory for 3 wheelers. Coe,Dickson and ? Sparks would make sense. But Dammit ,it escapes me... Google is useless lol. ATV News has the answers I seek .

I met a racer at a xc race that has raced in a Baja 2000 and 4 Baja 1000 on a 4 wheeler though. He's been racing over 20 years and is unreal how fast he is. Seen this thread and thought I'd ask him some questions on how he did it. I asked him about the chase vehicles to keep him refueled and he said he had 3 chase vehicles. It would be unreal the logistics of doing this race.

^Too cool, that was a good read and thanks for the info guys.
I wonder if they still let trikes race? I looked at their rules on their web site and I didnt see anything saying all ATVs must have 4 wheels. So, maybe?:D

William was a cross country racer from Ky that raced the Baja several times.... His brother was also a great CX racer who ran 3 and 4 wheelers. His name was John Yokley. It was some fast CX guys out of Western Ky.

dont know about the baja 1000, but i do know it IS legal to race a trike against quads at motorcross tracks, ive raced in s.c. and oregon now they just thought i had a disadvantage, and you pretty much do against a high horsepower 450 quad, those things have alot more power

That would be tons of fun too. I dont have a 250R yet, just two big reds. Hopefully later this year well find a good one. But I was wondering if they would let you race at the MX track, and in scrambles and trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. So thats cool that you can at your track.
im sure if you applied they would put you in a class
