Proud of my 250R.....

I have more recently been able to see how my (mild/semi-stock:naughty:) 250R does against some NEW/ER (stock/ish) 450Rs/700Rs & gotta say-its a great feeling to be able to beat these NEW quads. (all out straight race)- Yes, I'm aware that those all come ALIVE with some simple mods-but hey!- not bad for a almost 30 yr. old relic vs. a NEW $7000+ "sport" quad. Latest victim was another Raptor 700 (2014 this time). Been able to even chase them from 3 lengths behind & still pass them slowly! -(bad starts-need ext. swinger!) -The 250R is slightly quicker & faster than Raptor 700Rs (topped out)! Raced a couple TRX/LTR 450Rs & it was the 250R way out front!!!?:wondering-they got smoked. Sure is a great feeling-those guys NEVER saw it coming & dont think any of these guys knew what a 250R is-till now-:lol:. Not bad for stock cyl. stock igniton & a trailproDG trailproexhaustOK-braggins over:lol:-just thought I'd share....

I've never been a big two stroke fan, the more time I spend on this site the more I want a LQ 250r. Even an AC 250r.
I think I just figured out what im going to do with my tax return.

I hear you. On a straight gravel road I can smoke my friends 700 raptor, but on more technical ground he can lug the 4 stroke and whoop me with his torque. He was pissed on the straights...lol.

Whats more amazing is -There's SO much more potential available! Cant imagine what a FAST 250R is like. (Big Bore-Better Pipe-Stroker-Pro Porting-CR Ignition-50/50 Race Fuel-etc.):drool:

mine is a 89 trans with a ct310 with the long rod, 38as carb and the ct exh. my son clocked me with his radar gun at 97 mph.

97 MPH????? Seems high?? On pump gas? What sprockets sizes? 20" tires?------------- I imagine I do about 80MPH??(asphalt) -IDK? 14/38 - 20" tires - guessing I have about 2 MPH over a Raptor 700. Not sure what top speed is on those?- Near 80 I believe?

ChrisD has a wild 250R.

He has an ESR 330 cylinder with 15/33 gearing! The stock is 13/39....

I have a 310 kit, 38mm carb and DG pipe. A few years back I studded my tires and took my R out on the lake when it was glare ice. I only had 14/33 gearing. 6th gear was SOOOO tall that I couldn't even think about shifting into it until I was completely wound out in 5th. It was amazingly fast, wish I had somebody to clock me on radar. Guys on 800 snowmobiles were coming up to me to check out the old trike haha Anyway I couldn't imagine ChrisD's...

I changed the gearing back to 14/36 for practicality purposes loll

I run 13/39 gearing on my ESR350r, ported mid/top, ESR pipe, race fuel dome, and 38mm A/S carb and that's plenty fast enough for me!

lol I watched a vid on you tube, not sure what type of trike it was but it was a race with a bunch of quads and the one trike and just blew them all away...lol looked like the quads were all in 2nd gear and just puttering while this trike was like,, burning up the track!

I was feeling lazy when i put the 310 back together two weeks ago and didnt feel like swapping from the 42 tooth rear sprocket i have on my +6 rear end from running it on the 500R, so i jumped up to a 14 tooth front to bring the bike back down to 'stock gearing' etc. Felt almost stock on the 20" tires

I did run a 14/38 gearing on my 310 bike for drag racing and would leave in 2nd for launches. not crazy gearing but good enough for some racing. I want to say i did a 37 tooth rear and the bike would idle along in 1st at a pretty uncomfortable speed lol.
