Hey, to identify the year of your bike, look behind the headlight on the gooseneck. It should say, "This 198_ Yamaha..." That should tell you the year of your bike.

125, and 175 are 2 stroke, 200 and 225 are 4 stroke.

This is what the book has
YTM200K (1983) 21V-000101-100100
YTM200L (1984) 21V-100101-160100
YTM200N (1985) 21V-160101-on
So that makes yours a 1984, right?

I'd say it makes it an 83. There is a 0 before the 1.

200xman-
I'd say it makes it an 83. There is a 0 before the 1.
 oops, your right
trimoto- no problem, I am fixing up an '84 so when you get it registered let me know how.

AndrewLets just say that getting a title is a royal pain in the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro
First you have to get forms from DMV and get the person you bought the trike from fill them (3) out and sign their life away. If it has a old registration or a plate it wont be so bad.....but mine was never registered....bought it on e bay for 112.50 and drove to PA to get it.
I am lucky that I saved the guys name so I could contact him and send him the papers. Now all I need is for him to actually fill them out and send them back! then a title could be issued (no guarantee) within 3 weeks.
dont plan on it being fast and easy...I will let ya know more when its don (if ever)
Thanks again for the info, I couldnt have got this far without the proper date!

Hey.... Welcome to the board! I'm about 15 minutes from you.
I'll give you another hint... go to the Dansville DMV. I got a huge run around when I went to the Liv Co DMV in Geneseo. I had the certificate of origin on my 350X, and they told me I had to have a trail all the way back to that certificate inorder to register, or have the bike for over a year. Said I needed a sheriff to verify a pencil scrapping of the Vin too!
I went to Dansville DMV.... Took a digital pic of the VIN and gave them the certificate of origin and I was out in 10 minutes with plate in hand!!
When you go in, tell them you have owned it for years. This way you will not need a bill of sale or a prior registration. I think Geneseo said 1 year and Dansville said 2 years. So just tell them something > 2 years.
You draggin the ice thing over Conesus Lake? I got some good riding in Dansville (Well, Sparta off Route 256) See post in the 'Local Riding' board. I got a couple 350X's, (http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=17096) a Yamahauler (http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=17447) and a Suzuki LT-4WD.
I recently got the 85 YTM200ER Yamahauler. Maybe you can help me out with this thing? I am picking up an identical one from MIK6 as soon as the snow subsides. It's in parts, but all there with a couplespare parts I have.
