my son ran a nail over in the snow this past weekend so now he has a leak in the rear tire....tire already has a tube in it....do you think it is ok to slime it since there is a tube to protect alum rim from the slime??....just looking for opinions here for best, easiest way to fix....Thanks

If worst comes to worst you could always patch the tube with a simple bicycle tube repair kit. Not the easiest, but it will save you money.
I guess for the slime question it kinda depends on the size of the hole and how quickly slime sets up, i dont have much experience with it.

Do it... I put a new tube in the kids xr50... Dang thing leaked as soon as I put it in... Slimed it a hair (out of frustration) and it held for 2 years...

My opinion is slime makes nothing but a mess. I put it in my tire and it did plug the leak. The problem I had is when I rode at higher speeds my wheel had excessive vibration due to the slime. I changed the tire, which was a HUGE mess, and it ran smooth as silk again. Never again for me.

yamaha, was it tubed or tubeless?

It was tubeless. Was definitely a bad decision. I forgot to add that it clogged my valve stem too so I replaced it as well.

Whether you are a fan of SLime or not, the brand Slime does in fact make tire slime specifically for tubed tires.
