White fender set 1st gen 250R group buy anyone? Details inside if interested!

Sooo, Anyone interested in a 1st gen 250R white fender set? After inquiring about any being out there and getting nowhere I posted if there were anybody who mounted any other yr/style fenders onto the 1st gen. Again, no viable solutions brought forth. Then BKM suggested if I ever considered a group buy? Well that brings us to this thread. Called Maier and as suggested they are willing to make a run as long as we get 5 of each. Since I'm not a "supplier" it would need to be list price to a tune of $296 per set plus Approx $100 shipping for all to my house. Average cost to ship back out to members (per Mickey's thread for fiberglass 200x rears) approx another $85 per set. Almost $400 per person. So I called back to see if we by chance could get more than 5 could I get volume discount. I was told I would need a $5000 order to start seeing any breaks. Said he would not start undercutting his normal distributors. Fair enough, good business sense. I will say this was all conveyed to me very professionally so don't take it wrong. He then suggested I contact one of their distributors as they may be willing to pass on some of their discounts. That brought me to ZMPerformance. Remember reading a few members bought from them on eBay or direct I don't recall. So next call went to them. After discussing what I was looking to do I came out with a better deal than I expected. In order to avoid extra shipping cost they are willing to ship to each individual as opposed to shipping to just me and me reshipping them raising the cost! Price? $250 shipped for a set to the lower 48! Said he's willing to ship worldwide but shipping will be higher for those destinations.1 rear fender https://www.maier-mfg.com/catalog/atc250r-rear-fender-1 & 1 Front louvered fender https://www.maier-mfg.com/catalog/honda-atc250r-louvered-front-fender WHITE. The only thing he said he would not commit to is timing as he would be at the mercy of Maier for production after order was placed. Need 5 to commit/prepay. Payment has to go through 1 invoice so I will collect & take care of the paper trail. I figure I'd give it to at least mid January to give folks time to get in on it even if there is 5 before then (I HOPE!). So after reading my book.....Who wants in?!!

get with the MOSH's! When I had the idea of the Carbon Fiber Maier plastics for the 3rd gen R they were able to get the ball rolling and they are a dealer as well so they get special pricing!

I know it's a bad time of the year. It's a stretch for me too, but I've been lucky enough to unload some stuff on ebay. That's why I wanted to give it some time. May have to wait until even later if we can't get enough interest in the short term.

I would be more than happy to support the Moshs if they wanted to run with it. I don't know if they can get the same pricing as the bigger distributors due to volume or not. I would be much happier supporting one of our own if it was possible.

So after a week there is still only me. Should I assume there is no interest or is it just bad timing due to the holidays? Seems to be common right now. I wasn't thinking when I started this right before Christmas. Bad timing. So like I said maybe if enough show interest I can try again in say maybe Feb or March after tax returns are filed. Oh yea and price quoted to me was $250 shipped from ZMPerformance. Hopefully they can hold that price a little longer. The 400 was if I tried to go directly through Maier since I'm not a distributor. And by the way, Congratulations on the home purchase!

I was wondering if they would do the headlight bezle mold also? I know its probably a longshot everyone would want the bezle also in white. It would be sweet to have the whole set. If not I'm still in for the fenders.

I was thinking of just trying to run a later model R re-pop head light. Figured since they are only strapped on I could make it work. I would go for a stock 1st gen one as well if they still have the mold. I will need to call Maier first to see if they still have the mold and if they are willing to set it back up. Then I would need to get a hold of ZMP to see what cost would be if they can be produced. With it not being something they even offer in their catalog anymore it could add up to extra setup fees or additional units required to fill an order. I will do some research and report back.

Called Maier today but they only have Mon - Thur. hrs. I will try on Monday to see if they even have the headlight bezel molds anymore and take it from there.

Just got off the phone with Jeff at Maier Plastics. They don't have neither did they ever to his recollection have a mold for the 81/82 headlight shroud. Guess our options are trying to fit a later model R with the straps? Late model SX with straps (good luck finding a nice one of those reasonable), vinyl wrap, or paint. Was a great idea, but unfortunately not available.

I was thinking of maybe going with a white 350x headlight. Lol I love the twin light looks. For when trail riding. Options now. Have my decals being made up for the white fenders already lol!

Blue27 doesn't know it yet (probably figures though) but he will be making up some 'custom" decals. Trike will not be an original restore so might as well make it unique. I need to get busy though, your way ahead of me! I'm still unsure on the direction with the head light. You can get a repop 86R shroud from ZMP for $64 shipped through ebay. May be able to do better with the purchase of the fenders. If not I will probably go with a stock light with the vinyl wrap.

Well at least you tried for the headlight bezel. Mine is painted, but in otherwise perfect condition.
A little bit of red will be fine. I have the guard over mine should it should be safe and last awhile.

Talked to the Jeff on the phone from ZMPerformance today. Trying to finalize details for this buy. He informed me that Maier has raised their prices approx 6% to them. This translates into $11 dollars more so the price will be $261 per set. He said he will check with Maier and see what timing would be to get these run. I sent him an e-mail with all the specifics that I have so far and he is to get back with me. Just hoping this all comes to pass and Maier don't come back with some excuse not to run them. We are getting closer!

Just got an email reply from Jeff at ZMPerformance. It's a go!! Maier will make them! He said it will be a couple of week delay after we order for them to change over and actually make them.

I think I'm going with the Orange Red frame to match my cylinder head I just had powdered this year and the handlebars I bought. Getting the Red Hi FLite Desert Seat.
Probably going to do the tank in White....but I'll have to get another head light plastic or just paint the one I got. Not sure. Got a line on some polished forks too so
that will look good.

Red is faster? I've seen your tank on your 82 before. You can't mistake that one.

nice, I would have preferred the Carbon Fibre white, but this will do. Will match my Quad.

Getting a frame shipped from across the country, VIN on mine was unreadable to obtain any type of registration. Not much activity on mine at all but the "dark" months are coming meaning no mowing, no camping, and more time spent in the basement cleaning parts and wrenching. Hoping to get something started soon!
