i put a 83' big red motor in my 200x and put a high lift webcam plus ported it, it wasnt that fast. i didnt even think that the 200x and big red may have different heads? i just figured they were the same aside from the compression release?
anybody know?

I'm pretty sure the head on the X was more performance oriented.

The 200x piston have more compression. The 200e compression ratio is 7.8 to 1 and the 200x is 9.6 to 1. To gain hp with this cam you should at least use a 200x piston, or a xr200 piston or a wiseco 10.25 to 1 piston.

cool, i did notice the piston being much flatter on the big red.
but what about the head and valves? are the valves the same diameter?

you got an 83 200e engine in a 200x frame? how'd you account for the sub-transmission?

it was actually a honda xl 200 frame which is kidna similar to the x frame, anyways i just cut and rewelded it.
still looking for the answer if the heads (valves specifically) are the same on these machines?

They are the same heads the only difference is the rocker cover and the decompression lever on the 200e head
