Hey guys, I decided I mise well post a build thread for this machine as well. Decided to call it left turn just because I plan on putting it on the flat track once done. Lots of goodies on this one! Have my first frame to have a title! lol! Have a set a forks worked with Terry Cable products. Have a +3 Cal Fab swinger! +4 What I believe is a Durablue Rear Axle. Works Rear Shock. Bill's Pipe, Answer Silencer. Mossbarger Reeds. Mikuni TMX 36mm Carb. And of course The 300r I happened to get my hands on. It has made itself worthy of the transplant! Here are some pics!

As for tires I am between Duro HF245 or Deli Tire S366. OH YEAH!!! She is going to be Blasted and Coated before it goes together! Might be a week or two before the frame is ready to start assembly! Black Frame, Black Forks and some nice Red Tank, And Plastics.

I will be watching your progress. I have an 82 I will be redoing. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to add all the goodies you have for now. More of a stock clean/freshen' up with some color. Been looking for a white fender set with no luck. Are you gonna convert the steering stem bearings to a sealed style or stay with the loose?

Nice can't wait to see yours! As for bearrings I would love to convert Just because I don't care much for the loss ball bearing myself. But I am not certain how the conversion is done? I was looking at this one and it just has the brace on the top plate for the bearings to sit in no bottom plate. Just cut the old bearing holder out and and slap the new bearrings in the stem?

Put them on my 86 BR. Worst part was getting off the old bottom "bearing race" on the lower tree/stem. Ended up using a dremmel with a small cut off wheel to cut a groove into it on both sides (not all the way through so not damage the stem). Then hit with a chisel and it broke right in half and fell off.

Gotcha! Thanks for the advice! I was thinking the same with a dremel and cutting disk. Just enough to bust it off!

Have you thought about the hooisers? the ones I have on my 200x flat track allow for some serious drifting. I like them almost as much as lawnmower tires. If you are interested, I can get you the model number.

I didn't even know anything from hoosier was available for mour applications lol! Model number and size would be awesome!

No problem. They are item number 42550 and the size is 16x8.5x8. These will fit on 8x8 wheels. Also, to update your hubs, you may want to go with a 4/110...easier to find a wheel.

I was debating on that or not. I have a bunch of rims laying around for my 90 but They are steel wheels. Not sure If I want to run steel or run the goldies this machine came with. Have some time to do some thinking there! lol Have an extra set of 350x hubs laying around I could bolt onto it and then find a set of wheels. Options! lol

I have to laugh a little every time I see you mention those white fenders. I had a set of nos white maier fenders sitting in my front room for a long time. The real early dull looking finish fenders, you know. I bought an 82 250r and he keeps it up in NY at his house, and the last time he came through town, he picked up the fenders and took them back up to NY with him. I think he put those fenders on the 82, just so he wouldn't mess up the stock Honda rear fenders. Real nice fenders, but hadn't been in the bag for years, so just had a little scuffing from being moved around. The last set of whites I had seen in years, but no one seemed to like the dull finish.

So Pat, if you still own the R and the fenders are officially yours and they are just "replacements" any chance they would be for sale?????

Well got the motor pulled from it today. Had to pull head to get the motor out. Bought some Bling for the motor though. I don't think this motor has very many hours on it but has been running very rich. 181290181291181292 181293

Seen that cover on eBay. Almost jumped on it myself! But I know I need a lot of "necessities" for mine and figured I better pass and start getting what I need first. Are you gonna polish the rest of the motor now?

11-26-2013, 07:47 PM
Think Ill just through some polished covers on it and clean it up and make it look nice. Can't justify a full polished motor lol!

Just ribbing ya. I'm still trying to decide on a color scheme.:wondering All I've got done is the fenders pulled. Selling some stuff on Ebay and waiting on some sales so I can start buying bearings, cables and some of the common replacement stuff. Still trying to decide if I want to try and find an extended swinger and axle. This is my one and only and first "sport" trike so it's gonna be a newer experience for me. Luckily Blue27 lives close enough and has offered his expertise when needed.

90guy
11-26-2013, 08:04 PM
Haha Yeah figured that. Yeah I am waiting to get some paint slapped on so I can get everything I need for my swingarm so I could start assembling. Need to send my rear shock to works to have it cleaned up and reworked for what I will be using it for. and paint and cleaning. Just Pmd Greg on polishing the cylinder bahaha! lol Need to get some bearings coming! lol

MRSOUND
11-26-2013, 08:13 PM
I'm coming to the realization that I'm not gonna find white plastics which would have opened the rest of it up for any color scheme. I guess I'm not really going to go for the performance side as much as something eye pleasing and different that's completely functional on an everyday basis. Guess I'll just have to let it come together as I go and see what falls in my path. Lots of ideas...not as much money and time lol. I will have it ready for TF one way or another. Are you cracking the cases and doing a full rebuild?

90guy
11-26-2013, 08:20 PM
Yeah I would love white plastics also but like you stated be difficult to find a set. Uhmm... I was thinking maybe on splitting cases. But by the way this machine drove and rode and the way the cases look I don't think there are many hours on the machine. Probably just leave the bottom end alone. Pull the cylinder check the rod and check the ring gap. And see where it goes haha! I just want to get a good start happening! lol Winter is here so all my painting will be done at work on nigh shifts lol! Have to do some soda blasting next week and get stuff ready for paint! like the pipe and the motor mounts! Clean up the swinger and the silencer.

Mike you tesasing me? Lol I'm pumped up for it!

Got body work done, primed, blocked, and then painted. I wet sanded the tank and let it dry in the sun so I could then buff the finish and two bubbles appeared.

I had to strip those two spots back down to bare metal. For some reason the filler did not stick, I think the filler 90guy put on it was not compatible with the materials I used.

Here are pics of the tank post paint. I will still need to wet sand and buff the finish and apply the decals.

I recognize those tires and wheels. I think they look great on this project!!

I have had some problems with getting this tank done, I painted and reworked it three times, but I am done no more I give....It will get shipped this week. Some parts just fight you every step of the way.

Finished as seen above then something in the base layer bubbled. Then NAPA gave me the wrong hardener, and mix ratio and finally what you see. I applied the decals on Friday took the tank into the EBAY room and noticed today there are bubbles under the decals. I am not sure if it the paint is out gassing, but I am not messing with it. :beer 90guy is going to ride it so thrash away buddy!!

First pic is the day I painted it, I do not have a spray booth, and of course the wind was up and a bug flew into the fresh paint. Luckily the bug is under the decal.

I am curious, you buy your paint at NAPA as in the auto parts store? I am not cutting them down I just didn't know they were into paint like that.

Living in surprise the closest auto body supply is Glendale or deer valley. Napa on greenway mixes automotive urethane paints. I do not see driving to Mesa for what I can get local. However thanks for the link, next time I am in Mesa I will stop in, that place looks great, wish it were closer. NAPA carries what is the same as sherwin williams brand paint just branded as martin-senour. I have been painting as a hobbyist for 27 years. I rarely have had an issue until I went with single stage paint. This job has convinced me to go back to two stage paint.

Is that the pipe guard that goes on the left side between the 300R on the seat and the tank.

Just looked it up on the exploded parts diagram. Says its a seat protector that goes on the right hand side. Not to sure what it bolts to though.... Interesting.

It goes just above the kicker and attaches to the plastic somewhere.

Just looked quick I now see it attaches to the seat pan. Now I'll need to pull the seat off and install it. Thanks for the help.

Getting places with this thing. Need to get a kill switch and we would be set. Took it out for a little spin and I have some how lost the Idle screw. So now a nice aftermarket one will be on the list. But I forgot to post a video of it running. Soon I will get a video of it bombing a ditch.

That looks great! Have you had it out for a ride yet?

I just found some new cases for mine, so they will get powder coated and then I can start on the engine rebuild.

Yes I have rode it. It definitely needs different gearing for the little tires lol. I didn't change it. Other than that it pulls hard!

I bet! I'm going to put the Cheetah 20" tires on mine with black rims.
Hoping that will be OK with the gearing as I think they are still shorter
than the original tires.

Well its been a while since this thread has been updated. I ended up selling the machine about a year and a half ago due to finical issues. Erectordale ended up finding it cruising around his town and got a hold of the guy who had bought it. Well little to say I now have it back in my possesion. And it has been ridden hard and put away wet. I now have to check everything over and get it ready the upcoming race season!
