Well I guess the pity party is over with. All the hurt feelings, and dis-content with society is now gone for my loss of having all of our bikes and trailer stolen while moving across country. I'm sure most of you remember my post in here on this situation. I have went through all of the emotions of shock, anger, sadness, depression and well here's to the start of a new life. I started the process of selling off all my parts for my Tecate build and even got rid of the KX500 engine, but I still have tons of stuff left. I just got tired of it all and put everything to the wayside for several months until here recently when I was talking to my son Austin and he had said something about a Go Cart. I told him I would start searching for one but would not spend more than $200. I was surprised at all of the carts that are out there and found a few three wheeler too. Most of the three wheelers were pretty bad off though, but this once again peaked my interest. So I expanded my search areas and found a couple of bikes that were about six hours away. I called on them and got so excited I almost pissed myself. After trading a 30-30 which I gave approx. $200 for and I shelled out a total of about $550. Here is what my son and I drove home with late yesterday evening. A 1984 Kawasaki Tecate and a 1985 Honda ATC 125m. This is just the start folks.... I need to clean them up a bit more, and pick up a few more along with a trailer for my family, but this will have to wait until spring as you all remember I am active duty military and will be leaving here soon for a short while. I will keep everyone posted on my progress and any new toys that pop up. I'm back guys and so excited about where we are headed.

Welcome back oldtimer ! Oh yeah, many of us are still keeping a eye out for your stuff. Least I am.
Anyone that has ever had stuff stolen knows somewhat what you went thru, it ain't good. Wasn't for me anyways.
So Kevin,,, back on the positive side ~ the fine looking 125 taking the place of the go-cart for your son ?

Those are two clean looking trikes from what I can see of them. Glad you can turn the page and start new, it would be a shame for you to miss out on something you enjoy because some jackhole ruined it for you.

Really like that T3, that looks to be worth $550 alone.

Yes Sir..... I just pulled the carb today and cleaned it..... OH MY GOSH!!! I have never seen something so disgusting in my entire life... One of the adjustment screws were bent, the bowl had some good corrosion....overall just pretty nasty, but it ran when I went and got it.... AMAZING!!! However after I cleaned it I could get it to idle correctly, so there is now a new carb on its way. I was amazed at how cheap they are on ebay!!!

Yes Manbearpig! I was amazed too!!! There is a HUGE crack and one side is almost completely broken off, but the guy I got it from tried some type of repair.... Nothing compares to a little Zip=tie stitching!!!:beer It seem to be holding together great now.

$550.00..... Not down here in the deep south! Guys ask $1000. for a bike like this. What amazed me is it started on the second kick!!!:w00t:

New rear tires will be in the future for the Tecate, and I just ordered new front swing arm bearings and bushings...They were pretty sloppy!!! The center lug nuts were loose and do not have the Carter keys in them and It was running a little rough..... So personally I think it needs some GOOD gas and for someone to get on her and take advantage of her!!!:Bounce

I saw a nice looking big red in savannah not long ago for cheap, if the guy ever responded to my emails, it would have been mine. :D

Yes, there are ALOT of Big Reds and smaller bikes... even a few 200x's.... but when you get into the 250's they are pretty pricey around here!!!

Thanks Jason,
Well I guess I kinda got lucky as I didn't really get anything sold.... I did sell the engine (kx500) and the headlight shroud..... the rest of the items I still have. So I guess we will have to see what the future brings my way.... who knows maybe I'll find an 86' Tecate roller for a deal that I can't pass up??? We'll see I guess!!!

Alright guys..... still working on things here but I was getting all excited...... I was talking to a guy that had 2+ 85/86 R's that he was going to trade me for a gun and some cash. BUT..... The bikes were in pieces! I saw the pics of one of them before the tear down and I thought it was beautiful, but the guy was going to do a complete restore on them and they just sat for the last 3-4 years. Super nice guy and loves bike just as much as we do.... THEN AT THE VERY END...... He Backed Out! Oh well looks like I may have made a new friend though and have a great person to go to for tech questions!!! Here is another pic of the Tecate!!!

Man that tecate is cool. I've been on one of those bikes when I was a teenager and it was a rush. Definitely the fastest 250 2 stroke atc in my opinion. Wish I had one!

Thanks man..... I will be putting in new swing arm bearings tomorrow.... today cleaned the carb and rode for just a few seconds, but the swing-bearings are pretty bad so I didn't want to take the chance of damaging it any more than it is now. I will post some more pics and video as we get the bikes up and going!

you need to find a kx 250 cylinder and really wake that ride up.

stubbie1111

What's the big difference?? Again...never dealt with the 2 strokers a lot!!

more ports in kx cylinder

and I assume more ports= more power?

while i'm thinking about it i would pull you'r flywheel and get it checked out they are bad about the magnets coming unglued and trashing your stator or case.

Hey guys not to dig up an old posting, but this deal that I was talking about........ well I went on one of my normal Navy deployments and while I was out the gentleman contacted me.... He is just like me and like a lot of you out there that truly loves these machines, and he was also a man of his word..... he backed out of the deal in late 2013 and he told me that if he ever decided to sell his projects again that I would be the first person he contacts.....:beer Well I drove and picked up my new hearts desire!!! :Bounce :w00t: Other than my wife of course!!!!! :naughty: I will take pictures of the bikes tomorrow, and have you guys guess what I paid....... then finally after everyone suffers for a while I will reveal who and what bike it is....... I AM SOOOOOO.... EXCITED!!! :welcome:

The pic where my son is holding the plastics on the frame..... does that bike look familiar?

stubbie1111
04-28-2014, 12:52 PM
So....two frames, one roller, lots of oem parts, , new shock cover, set of stock rims, various swing arms, shocks, plastics, stickers, one complete built 310, spare jugs including a Paul Turner racing, a spare motor just need side cases, stainless bolt kit, hoses, seats handle bars, a bucket of spare metric nuts and bolts.... I'm sure I am forgetting stuff, but take a look at all the pics........ So the question is how much did I pay and does anyone recognize the bike?

What's up guys? No one wants to take a guess? ANYONE?? Do I need to start a new post to draw interest? I have tons of questions too since I have never built one from the ground up... I also forgot to take a pic of the headlight assy. and the 2 manuals he gave me too.... Would you guys say it's worth a $1000, $2000, or is it worth $100? You guys tell me. I have enough parts to make two and a half bikes here..... Give me some input..... PLEASE!!! :D

Do you still have the tecate? I honestly don't see too many around in that condition. Actually, I don't see many around at all compared to the other trikes. Hope you didn't let it go. And if you did, you should have sold it to me. lol.

Honda 250R?

Tri Z?

If so I think it would be pretty cool to have one of each.

You have a short track gas tank also and I see 1 short track radiator bracket in the box you should see if you have the rest in boxes. nice find. the Carlisle tires and the rims are pretty hard to find . The gas tank alone you could probably get 3 or 4 hundred bucks depending on condition if you can find the rest of the pieces then the price goes way up
