82 250R Opinions .... Questions

I just want to know ... I know it is not that fast.. just want to sort of know how it will do next to a 350x ... I know it wont beat it ... just my friend bought a 350x and i only got my DR .. I need something to keep up. I found one for 900 Canadian dollars. How does that sound only like 2-3 tanks ran through since top end done..Looks good. Any thoughts at all?
I knoq the suspension "blows" but how would it compare to my DR suspension?

i have owned both. my 81 r was fast as hell but didnt compare to my 85. you will be pleased with the 81-84 r. the only trike i regret selling was the 81. it was dependable , simple and just easy. the power was a little subtle but my 85 just scares the crap out of me. i do alot of tight trail riding and pulling a wheelit towards a tree is not my type o fun.

well all that and i still didnt answer your question. if you are talking about a suzuki dr dirt bike (i had a 87 sp125 back in the day). the suspension is alright on the dr unless you try to jump something. it is still better then what you will find on most atc's. but being a trike lover ditch the dr and by the 82r. you want regret it.

honestly, the 81/82 R's are just 70's on steriods, the suspension sucks balls, the cornering sucks balls, but some people cant get enough of them for some reason, there quick, but not fast, no it will not smoke a 350x, not even close, maybe if the 350x is smoking like a chimney and has a hole in the piston.

i agree they look like a honda 110 with a 2 stroke in it i would love to see one even beat a blaster and blasters arnt that fast realy eather

there not THAT slow...just becuase it can beat a blaster doesnt make it fast....but yes, if its running good, it should smoke blasters left and right..i know this for a fact...of course, theres some exceptions, like modded to hell blasters....they can be made to go pretty damn fast for there size

O yeah.. Oops I didn't see your first post that said 55MPH .... Well I have seen on 3wheeler.org that a guy had his police friend clock him on his bored dx at like 64 mph ... and the stock one was 55 and anyother one I seen was like 61mph now I know the R will get there alot faster but could my DR actually beat a 82 250r in top speed?

i own an 82R and my bro owns an 86 350X with fresh rings in my R theese machines are neck and neck but i cant hold my throttle wide open for very long so he ends up in the lead on long stretches. trails are a different story.they are both fine machines and we are very proud to say we own them.

My 82 250R with an average weight rider and my 350X with a heavier rider are a tie in a drag situation. On a winding uphill trail, the X gets the nod.

well i got a 81'R and it goes about 70mph only thing moded on it is the rear sprocket to a 36 thooth. and you are right the suspension sucks major balls! no jumping on that fiend but.... its great on dunes. :-P i myself like the handling on the older ones. and there is nothing to the motor! :D and it is very reliable.

81 ATC200 in 2001 was clocked doing 81km/h with just a cobra pipe.

50.5mph.

stock 2 years old it would do 55mph.

anything bigger would go faster then that.

I really don't know why everyone is concerned about what can beat what.. I ride trikes because they are getting rare and being different is fun. Why go out and spend all that money fixing the thing up just to go out and prove it's faster than modern day technology? Just Ride It..

banshee's and raptors have a better chance of getting me but they don't do it every time.

I still like the aircooled R's. They are not slow nor are they junk! I've only owned the 83-84 models. I've beat a 350x with my 84 R but it wasnt stock.

get the R i have a 82 r and it kicks trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro on everthing the only thing i have a problem with is R's with 310 kit's or the banshee so get the R and spank that 350x trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro LATER...... :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
