I've been offered a durablue axle from a 87' trx250r quad, I just wanna check that it will fit my 86' Atc250r?? its 4" wider than my oem axle?
And are they any good or will I be wasting my money?

Yes, it will fit. I have no experience with Durablue axles, but I have a +4 Lonestar axle on mine.

i run a durablue +2 in my 86R and it performs well on the MX track. one thing to pay attention to is the sprocket hub. the axle will fit any year 250R, but its the sprocket hub that needs to fit into the year specific carrier (85 and 86 carriers are different.) 86R ATC and 86/87 TRX250r's used the same carrier, so that setup from an 87 TRX 250R will bolt right into your 86R ATC. Also, the Durablue sprocket hubs are aluminum and the splines will wear out pretty quick. check for slop. if theres slop on the splines where it meets the axle, order a new sprocket hub.

ALL SPLINES need "Open gear lube" it is thick/black and will ruin anything you wear and take a few days to get off your hands even with gasoline......
Follow that and splines last FOREVER!!!!!

If that isn't available, I use Inboard/outboard boat engine coupler spline grease. It is a special grease for high pressure splines. I am absolutely 100% positive the 4.3 liter GM V-6 in my boat puts alot more strain on the driveshaft splines than my R will ever subject my sprocket hub to.
BUT, the wheeler will subject the splines to dirt and mud where my boat does not...at least if I am running it right! LOL!
Durablue makes Lonestars products.
Durablue axles are probably the best axles there are. I'm really surprised there isn't a bunch of people stating the same thing!!!
When I've got the spare change I'm going to the 2+2 adjustable axle for my Suzuki. And yes I mean it is adjustable. From 2" to 4" wider than stock by moving spacers around.
A buddy of mine runs the pin drive X-33 in his MX built Lt250R. Instead of splines it has this big pin that goes through the hub/axle/back out the hub and sinches tight around both (kinda like the JJ&A drag axles). It's held up REALLY well and is just awesome. He hasn't had a single complaint from it yet! This next year will be the third or fourth season on it.

I have a Trx 250r RPM dominator axle in my 85 with the stock carrier. Everything fits and lines up, the only difference is the sprocket hub journal that rides in the axle seal is longer to account for the wider carrier spanner adjuster of the 86 and Trx. It makes it look like the axle isn't seated all the way, but it is.
