Mickey had some fiberglass fenders made in the past couple of weeks and I wanted to know how many folks would like to have some made from my meyer low profile fenders as a mold.
I'd sure would like a set of low profile fenders

Make sure you look into the shipping of these before you get too involved, the R fender doesn't fit well in a box. Also with my past experience with group buys you need to have a price set with shipping included for people to commit. Then you will still have people disappear when it comes time to pay for them

As long as it is a good price and shipping is good as well, keep us informed
Being that I'm a impulse buyer, I would have jumped on at any price a few months ago. Now that I'm fed up with spending money on three wheelers, and three wheelers in general, I need to know price before I commit.

THis is some good feedback for the fenders. I know half the folks on here have a water pumper and if just 5% of those people had them
looking like racers then there ought to be 20 or 30 people would be interested. I will get a pic posted of the fenders that I want to replicate
so you can see what they will look like, except shinier and more durable and also new not 30 years old :)

Mine are plastic, but I wanted to replicate them in fiberglass. Same company Mickey used on the 200X fenders earlier this month.

you have to be real careful about what box you use to ship fenders you go oversize and the price almost doubles. It can be done pretty cheap but you need just the right box .

I got a new set from Maier a couple of years ago and they came in a big box. Shipping was outrageous. I think you want to keep it under 70 inches.

Up to you guys, I want a white one but most folks will want red.
I would like mine to be in red.
Yeah I'd want red. Any idea when you would have a ballpark price?

Are we running out of steam on this. Sounds like my 200X fenders will ship Monday. Be nice to have at least 10 people wanting a set.

I am posting this on the other site to see if I can generate some more buyers.
Any interest from the other site?

I haven't had time to post it yet. To many kid activities going on :)
So I count six potential buyers. Have you talked with the guy that will be doing these to see what price we are looking at? You're never going to drum up interest unless you give the guys a ballpark price. The idea of having these made is great in theory, but real world numbers is what will separate the spenders from the pretenders. Looky Loo's and tire kickers usually lose interest pretty quick when it comes time to lay the dead presidents down.

I left it up to Keith to get this going because I already went threw it all. You have to sell 36 of them to break even at the pricing I sold at mine at to cover the mold. I was going to spend the money any way so it didn't matter to me. I got a est. from my fiberglass guy just based on them being a little wider then my 200x so they would be $25 more. But now you will have to have custom boxes made, plus I didn't know that box price doubled to me with shipping them to me. Bottom line with shipping they should be flat rated at $350 to make a little on them. At that price you just lost 3/4 of the people that want them. Then getting the money is like pulling teeth,so it's not worth messing with, but it can be done,I did it and I'm happy with my fenders! That is exactly the real word numbers that will either get the ball rolling or scare away the tire kickers. At $350 I'm in for a red set, but needing to sell 36 it will never happen, unless a guy is wiling to eat the cost of the mold and have it for future use. I don't know keith's financial situation or how bad he wants these, but that is a lot to ask of a guy in order to make this happen.

Thanks for the clarity on this, I think this kinda puts it into perspective and cuts to the chase.. I think its pretty evident where this is going, but like I said I'm in for a set at $350 unless I come across a used set in the meantime.

I got to get my X fenders out of the box today to look at them. They are very nice fenders and worth the money spent. I would like the same for my 250 R......But I have 200 in the Maier fenders, than I will have 900 in a mold of which will be in Pennsylvania, plus 350 for the fenders that will come from that mold. That adds up to expensive dang fenders. Also if I want my mold back I can expect 100 to get it shipped back. I don't have time to screw with selling these for profit or hobby. I would love for Mickey to spearhead this project and hopefully make him some bank also. The 900 for the mold is the crusher for me. I have spent a quarter million on a farm, cows, fence ect. in the last 4 months and squeezing another grand out of my wife would send her over the brink :( I'm all for a new set of fenders even if they cost 350. but have to think more about the mold . Any suggestions guys.
Keith, that is a hell of a lot to ask of you or Mickey and I understand everything you are saying. These are niche fenders in an already niche sport. Honesty, I don't ever see you making money off these with that type of overhead.

I got to look the fenders over a little better last night that Mickey sent me and they are a fantastic replacement to the 30 year old fenders that are out there. They should be a lot more durable also.
