Finally got around to taking apart the top end of my Tecate and found this. Looks as if someone cleaned or ported it. Anyone have any comments whether it's a good or bad job? You can see the difference compared to the second one.

One can open the intake side stuff and sub transfers for more flow but real porting is done on the other ports the one must reach with an angled/ flex die/ dremel grinder.

Making exhaust or intake bridge weak is usually not good thing.

My concern is whether or not they screwed it up. I've seen people who think they can "port" superchargers just because they can turn on a dremel.

They could have done a better job smoothing everything so there were no edges but they didn't do any damage if that's what your asking. The port timing looks unchanged and all they did was make it flow better. I did a Similar thing on my 250 and 500 tecate and they run great. Well the 500 does and the 250 is getting there but that has been carb issues not porting issues

You really want the exhaust side to be as smooth as possible at all times. Easiest way to raise port timing is to run thicker base gasket (or 2) and thinner head gasket to keep compression the same.

the right one looks bad the left looks like a 6 year old did it. you will not notice a performance "problem" from the shoddy work on the intake. don't know about the other ports. run it and see how it runs.

The right one appears untouched although the bridge looks cracked. The left one is sleeved and was on the bike when I acquired it. The bike has never really ran right, plug always indicates rich condition.

well i cant see a crack on the computer.

the right one still looks bad.

as another mentionbed we do not know if your port timing was changed

you say it is rich so jet it leaner.

other than that what other question might you have.
