I bought this from the origonal owner, it took a while to talk him out of it but its finally in my stable! :)
It came papered and with some spare tires, paddles, gearing etc.. Now i just need to find a nice 86 Thumb throttle because i cant do the twist..

Pretty clean and mostly original..got to love the 86. The improvements on it over the 85 are pretty great..

I got mine similarly 2 years ago, only thing was the PO had a thing for CAMO..

179349

Some Michigan owners think everything should be covered in CAMO and used for hunting..but a 350X??

But at least I got it for a good price and the mechanics of the machine were perfect..most the other buyers passed it over because it looked terrible.

A bit of hard work to remove most of the camo and I have a nice rider I'll never part with!!

179350

Keep that forever..the price on them is going up and up!!

What did you pay if you don't mind asking?

Wow! She's purdy. Lol. I THINK all Honda thumb throttles are the same on the early machines. Pretty sure anyway. If I'm wrong someone will pipe up.

Thanks fellas! Deffinitely love the upgrades from 85 to 86.. Ya i don't think i will ever sell this bike unless i absolutely have too.. Ill tell you this, i got it for what the not so original ones go for around here so i was pretty happy with that.. The P/O did put a high compression piston in it so i am probably going to put a 400ex carb,400ex exhaust on it to help it flow a little better.. I also plan on getting a maier set of plastics so i don't destroy the oem's in the case of a mishap..

Ya and im cool with whatever honda thumb throttle as long as it works ya know..

That thing looks great, i never took notice to the black bit on the back of the rear fenders. Never really saw much pictures of an 86.

My roller has all original plastic on it. Even the black "mud flap" out back. Too bad the fenders are so brittle they crack when you touch them. I'm surprised they made it home in the back of my truck. That is a really nice bike. I would just get a standard Honda thumb throttle, from any quad. I'm not too sure how the EX carb feels on the X. I'm putting an Edel 38x36 oval on mine. I'm a big fan of the 39mm FCR as well. There are just some much better carbs out there then the EX, imo.

Ya maybe ill just look for a ex thumb throttle.. I ran a ex carb on my 85 350x and i loved it! there is a trx450r carb for sale here for a decent price is that better than the 400ex carb? I don't know 4 stroke carbs very well..

Great looking X!!!

Ghostv2........The mud flap is on both 85 and 86. They fetch hundreds on EBAY as they are usually the first thing to get broken when there is an incident.

I run one on the 350x I have been racing in Cali and AZ and people think I am

Guess im just so use to seeing maier reproductions anymore. Had no clue. I assume they are made out of plastic since you said they break.

If I'm not mistaken, the 450r used the FCR for a while. I don't pay much attention to the 450 bikes, so I could be wrong. I know the YFZ uses the 39mm FCR, and I have one on my VERY modded Warrior. What a bad to the bone carb it is! Little weird to tune, but, it sucks in so much air that it sound's like it has a little supercharger. lol

Thanks guys! It took some convincing but well worth it! I got it from the mechanic at my honda dealership and the funny thing is that I really never thought he would sale it but every time i went in there for parts i would say "so you ready to sale that X yet?" He would always laugh a little and say no, i kept after him and then one time he said "ya know im thinkin about it" i couldn't believe it! Than about a week later i asked him again an he said yes..

Awesome^^ im going to start looking for one of these carbs.. Will it be too much (too big) for my setup? I have a high compression piston, intake, exhuast and a holy airbox lid..

yes yes and YES!!!!

I see I'm not alone in my love for this sucker! Lol. Only reason why I am using the Edel on my X is because I traded some Warrior parts for it. May put an FCR on it in the future. DC, do you have any experience with the PowerBowl? I've always been curious about it's hype.

I will give you advice that stems from my experience, on a totally different design of 350 4stroke (Warrior). Ditch the air box lid, run a K&N with Outerwears cover. Or, ditch the whole air box all together. This is what I have done recently, and made a splash shield under the filter. A better flowing induction tube from the filter to the carb is a must IMO. I do not know if the carb will fit into the stock intake manifold, I doubt it. I made my own intake manifold out of 1.5 pipe and 1 1/16" steel, port matched it, and used a silicone reducer tube to join it to the carb.

As for engine mods, you have a great start with the high comp and exhaust. Will it be enough for this carb? I don't know. Bit more cam would be nice with a ported head to get the most out of it. I believe Web has a bolt in cam that works with stock rockers and valve springs. May be enough, may not. All my bikes are very well modded, so I have never tried it on a fairly stock machine. I'll get some pics of my setup on here shortly.

They are a good, reliable carb. No accel pump though. There is a little kit that bolts in them that is supposed to make them snappy on the bottom end.

Now that is cool, cant beat free tires and rims that actually still function. I like them pro wedges.

You can always install them to do burnouts on a paved road till you crash into a snowbank, everyone loves a good DB video and you're not out any money!!
