1984 200ES Big Red TRX200 Rear Suspension Project....starts NOW

So I currently have 3 Big Reds and a '84 TRX200 that I picked up this weekend that is pretty sad. 2 hour drive and !50 later, I'm the proud owner of a beat to hell '84 TRX200. It does have a nice gas tank though. Wiring is butchered and plastics are beyond help. Headlight was broke in like 5 places. I couldn't get it to fire. Swapped a good coil, CDI, plug and was getting real weak spark. The good thing, it has a good frame and suspension, rear hubs (that I needed)!! So my plan is to use the rear swingarm and suspension on my parts Big Red and make a soft tail out of it.

I know some of you purists cringe at stuff like this and I apologize ahead of time. I'm a hot rodder by nature so it was bound to happen. Not like this is a rear bike or one of a kind.


So this has already been done by at least one member on here. I'm planning on following his lead and hopefully tapping his experience. I do have the advantage of having a full TRX200 to use though.

I would build another one if I had a reason to. I ride mine all the time and its great. The longer wheelbase helps the ride and traction climbing hills. I also have the 200M forks. I've been digging stumps out on my property and the little ATC200ES is my helper fetching tools and lunch and that. The ride is really nice too, every time I ride this trike I have fun.

The only thing I would have done differently is spent more time on the welds, you know made it look like a trained monkey made them.

My welds aren't going to be much better really. And the front forks on all my BR's are bad so I wouldn't mind putting on a set of 200M forks sooner or later. I think this bike is rarelly open to any number of mods.
