when I previously removed my exhaust, the side mount bolt for the tail pipe was stuck in there and snapped off as well as the heat shield bolts. I drilled them out and tapped new holes. My front axle was also seized in the screw hole in the fork and had to get a pipe wrench + cheater pipe + heat to force it out.
Are there any products that someone here could recommend as to prevent this from happening?

Is there a brand you recommend? Also can I put that stuff on the axle itself so it doesn't seize to bearings/collars? Or do I just need to put a light coat of bearing grease or something.

If it doesn't really matter, then I'll just get whatever is on the shelf at ACE.

I like this stuff:
178110
The package is exactly like a kids glue stick or chapstick tube.
FYI: Just like "Frank's Red Hot Sauce", I put that @#$% on everything... everything exhaust related, dis-similar metal related, and anything else that I've ever had seize up. This list includes:
- EVERY fastener that touches the exhaust
- Motor mount bolts that go through aluminum engine cases or spacers
- Front axle bolts that go through collars (just about all of them)
- The pilot screw on the 85 250SX screw
- Any place a steel bolt threads into or through aluminum
(afterthought: you can just get the stuff at Ace... any antiseize is better than NO antiseize, but if you can find it, the copper kind in the gluestick tube is a VERY handy way to apply it)

Awesome I'll definitely try to find that stuff. If I can't I'll just order it online. I appreciate the reply!

I use Bel Ray grease on every shaft and bolt.
I bought a small can of hi temp nickel never seize for exhaust studs. It's available at McMaster/Carr.

Some great suggestions.
but other than taking everything apart, I walk around everything with liquid wrench a few times a year.
Had a frozen front axle too so they ALL get a drop or two and anything elkse that looks like it may cause trouble

When working on any machine, I like to prepare for the next time something has to be taken apart. By me, or the next owner.
Permatex, you can get it in a BIG jar.

Yeah I went to ace and they had that Peratex stuff in like a plastic jar. Kind of looked like the plumber's glue/cleaner cans but plastic. I have it all together now. Had to put a drop of lubricant to get the bolts I bought to go through the newly tapped holes. But all is good now. Just need so slap the muffler on and get the engine together!
