I haven't been around in a couple weeks so I figured I'd check in. Just been driving and having fun on the Big Red. I swapped out the rear ends with my parts bike, rebuilding the brakes on the one I pulled out. Really not much progress than that. About to buy tires....getting Bear Claws. I'll be cleaning out the metal tank that was on the parts bike here shortly and then my buddy is going to paint it and clear coat it over the decals.
Other than that, it's been great! I think I will be doing a top end on it sooner or later though. It leaks oil right above the starter. I'll get more into that when the time comes.

That's just a sweet 200es... I am diggin' the blacked out motor, and the polished CDI cover rocks! Clearly you have an eye for detail. I am sure that you will do the metal gas tank justice. Not to be a hater, but the plastic after market 200es tanks look like a pig trying to s**t a razor blade... Nice scoot, BTW!

I hate the plastic tank too! Can't wait. Saw this nos tank on eBay a few weeks ago and this is what I want mine to look like. 177764

I was damn tempted to bid on that NOS tank... But mines clean as a whistle inside, just need to give the outside some love. Probably not this year, most likely next spring.

Isn't that NOS tank from a 185? Definitely not a 200es/m/e tank. Sweet, none the less.

Hmmm, yeah I think you're right. Perhaps this is the wrong picture. I save tons of pictures(its a serious problem actually lol) Regardless I'm getting that tank to look like glass :)
Edit....here's that auction...

There was an NOS 84 tank on there as well, the bidding got CRAZY!!! I think it ended around $300

300 isn't that bad at all. you have to consider you current tanks value as well. I had to explain this to my wife one time on the Mustang. I swapped the steering over to rack and pinion a few years ago. the setup was $1500. the steering on there can be resold for around 400.00 or so. So the real cost of the rack and pinion conversion was really $1100.
Buy a spotless NOS tank for 300, sell your old tank for 200.....you get a brand new tank for 100. My thinking anyway.

Oh i agree... But i don't have the cash to drop $300 on a tank plus shipping now.. It would have been around $350 with shipping.

I hear you. if you have the mula there really isn't a part you can't get for them really. There are websites over seas that have ALOT of nos parts still in stock. I'm just not willing to pay 500 for a set of lower front shock assemblies for example lol
