I built it from the ground up. I rebuilt the motor. Pwk 39mm. billet intake. V force 3 reeds. Frame, swingarm and pegs powdercoated. Pegs are yfz pegs welded to tri-z backing plates. swingarm is a metaltech plus 2. All banshee rear components. Billet sprocket hub. Billet brake hub. Banshee rear caliper. Billet roundhouse carrier. Durablue 2+2 axle. front suspension is stock 86 with progressive springs and 15wt fork oil. oem nos rear fenders. Dynoport exhaust. ASV levers on cr bend Pro Taper fat bars. Works rear shock... I have some of Yamahondamans billet on there too. Fork caps. Swingarm caps. Few other things...

Theres alot. I built it from nothing. Started with a frame and a bunch of parts.. I have a nos 86 front tire on a perfect rim, so I am looking for nice rear gold rims. I need to get a rear brake line that is the right length too. I dont like the fork boots I have on it either. A few other small things I want to make it just right. But it freaking screams. Straight as an arrow... And I did it all on my own. Ive bought so many trikes that have had way too many hands on them in the past. Always problem after problem. I wanted to build this tri-z the way I wanted it, knowing every part is good. No welds. All new seals, bearings... no jb weld....

Badass350x. That is a cluch easy pull. It works great, but Im not sure I am going to keep it.

I'm wondering about your handlebars and mounts? Is that a Pro Taper bar and if so what bend? What about the mounts? Did it require fabrication or is it just a bolt on mod?

ASV levers on cr bend Renthal fat bars.A portion of your answer lurked within. I know the pictures are pretty, but to find the answers to your questions, you have to read the posts too.

I'm in the process of having Mrs. Mosh do a new seat for me. I don't like how my seat turned out. A local upholsterer did it for cheap. I should have gone to Mrs. Mosh from the start. Now... Since it is a hot rodded tri-z and not a stock restoration, I keep thinking of doing a hi flite desert seat with either a red cover with Yamaha on the back, or one of those cool red and white ones with the stripes that progressively get bigger. Or maybe have Mrs. Mosh do something very custom and different.

I keep going back and forth on what to do. Any suggestions?

Tell us about the handlebar clamps. Did you have to do any fab work or did they just bolt on?

Rigaman

OH.. forgot about that. They just bolt on... I forgot what brand of clamps I got. But they all should just bolt right on.

If you're not happy with it though, I've got nothing but good things to say about Mrs. Mosh's work. I've always loved the color/styling scheme of the '86 Tri-Z, so I personally wouldn't recommend a seat-cover that looks drastically different from the original style. But, in the end, it's your ride, and you have to be happy with it. Beautiful job so far though, I like what I'm seeing!

X2 for Mrs. Mosh on the seat cover, she did my 85 Tri Z seat and it turned out nice! I'm going to be getting a few more seats recovered soon.

You can see my seat here in the link below, my z is almost done now.

Does anyone make a sprocket cover/case saver thats not the plastic oem one?

Ya. I will be sending Mrs. Mosh a seat to be redone. I am having trouble finding a good foam though. I thought I had one.. I took the old cover off, and the sides crumpled apart.

That's a really nice Tri-Z. What size tyres are on the rear? They look sweet.

Rigaman

Rear tires are 20" Itp Gncc. I love them. They are closer to 19" when I measured them.

Shawn (sblt500r) here on the boards makes billet case savers. I'm pretty sure there is one on the Raffle trike, so you can check out that thread and see what they look like. I will take a pic of mine tonight and post it up. The are polished so they look pretty trick.

I ran into a problem. last time I took my tri-z out, I pulled in the clutch, and put it in gear, and it lunged forward and stalled. The clutch plates are sticking together. Hmmmm.... So, I drained the oil and it was milky. The water pump seal was bad. Good new oem seal too. So I ordered a new seal and gaskets. I am waiting on them now. I also bought a Barnett kevlar clutch kit. I have heard good things about them, so I will give it a shot. I think I will stick with oem clutch plates though.

Is there an optimal way to press the water pump seal in? I know a socket can damage the seal.. The seal is metal under the rubber, and the rubber will crack and split from banging on it.

Use a short piece of all Thread with flat washers and nuts use as a press and press it in!

Rigaman

Oh smart. That should work.

I got the new waterpump seal in. The threaded rod with nuts and washers worked perfectly.

Here is a quick video of it running. Sounds good to me. It seems like I got the jetting spot on.
