Can anybody tell me the best way to cut and extend the front fork on the suspended 83 185s to fit larger tires?

Buy the older 200 style front end(which i have plenty of). That will fit a 25" tire.

Will the 27s clear the fender during suspension cycling on the 200 and 200m forks?

There is no way with original equipment forks. Not sure why you want to run that big of a tire but it seems like a lot of work for a 200 IMO

Thanks for clearing that up I'm going to gear it WAY down and make it into a mud crawler. Just something to make the guys who payed 8-10 k on new can-am bikes at the mud park who think their better than you jealous.

Just sit back on that seat and keep the front end up and you should be fine. They do great in water and mud.
