i dont know how to get rid of them. ive heard of using fine sand paper and steal wool but what do i fill the pits with or do i? the pits arent so bad just something im not sure if the pits will ruin the plastic fork guides... and what do you lubricate those 200e forks with? grease or something special?

Use 1200 grit sand paper (wet/dry) lubed with Marvel Mystery Oil and sand length-wise around the tubes. The pits don't need to be filled. If they are that bad, another set of forks may be in order. The fork tubes themselves aren't lubed other than the fork oil in the lowers. The seals and wipers will take care of the rest. The upper portion of the tubes where they go through the triples and the area above their fully compressed travel, can be waxed with steel wool and a good wax.

Yeah... post up a pic or two of your forks. I use a blend of 50/50 5W-30 and ATF.

200e forks dont run oil, they are dry with springs, and an internal damper that is sealed

May have just learned something !

Are all non-R and X Hondas built this way ?

so should i just clean all the fork parts up as best as i can and just assemble it and not put any oil or grease on anything?
or should i grease up the springs and damper?

The 83 and 84 Big Red (200E, 200ES) use a nylon busing in the slider riding on the chromed fork tube with no sort of fork seal (just a boot). I would not use any lube at all, or if you do, use a dry lube. Any sort of grease or oil will make dust and dirt stick in there and wear out the nylon bushing prematurely. The front end setup on this generation of Big Red really leaves a lot to be desired.

I cleaned all the springs and parts on a wire wheel, and yes i did grease the crap out of the springs and damper body just to prevent rusting. Wonderboy has a good point, but I installed new oem boots and clamps, which should keep most dust and dirt out! Running ripped up fork boots is the wrst thing you can do, just traps all the dirt and water around the seal and chrome slider. either run none, or non ripped up ones!
